Option B for Center
So, If we cant land Brad Richards and Tim Connoly signs elsewhere for more money, then lets move to Option B.
Sign a Center, a RFA, the cost could be 4 1st rnd picks. We could make a deal that includes prospects such as luke Adam c, Mark Pysyk def, and Brayden Mcnabb Def.
We can look for players such as, but not limited to the following....
Someone Like Zach Parise from NJ Devils.
Or Steven Stamkos from TB Lightning.
or somebody else, name hear.....
I dont care if their in arbritration or not, lets nab a player off a limited cap space team.
An offer with a $1,034,249 annual cap hit or less: No compensation
More than $1,034,249 — $1,567,043: Third-round pick
More than $1,567,043 — $3,134,088: Second-round pick
More than $3,134,088 — $4,701,131: First and third-round pick
More than $4,701,131 — $6,268,175: First, second and third-round pick
More than $6,268,175 — $7,835,219: Two first-round picks, a second and third
More than $7,835,219 and higher: Four first-round picks

Adam, Pysyk and McNabb… jeez. Thats a little too rich for my blood. We’ve built a very deep, young talented pool at D and trading away Pysyk and McNabb could handicap us at the blueline for years.
Id love Stamkos, but not for that price. And I definitely wouldnt do it for Parise.

What?
I’d consider Myers, Adam and Pysyk for Stamkos. 50 goal scorers are a rare talent. You probably will never find his equal on the UFA market. Unless you’re in the habit of frequently picking 1st overall, you don’t get talents like Stamkos often. He is one of the top 5 centers in the league and he’s young.
It’s a moot point because Yzerman isn’t letting him get away, but really, a bunch of good prospects are not worth near as much as Stamkos.

Not sure he’d score 50+ in Buffalo. We don’t have a Lecavalier or St. Louis that can dish him the puck on every PP

Ah no way Im packaging Myers for anyone
except Crosby or Ovechkin (maybe).

Myers
If we trade Myers it would show how idiotic we are, I’d take a kid who is a 6’8 defenseman and 21 who is going to grow into his body and become one of the best defenseman in the league. No way am I going to trade off our best players for one guy who will probably tail off and probably wouldn’t score 50 in Buffalo
Parise is a winger
Why do we need another winger?!
And that is wayyy too much to think about giving up. Like bflo said, we have built a very deep young pool of talent that is not worth what you’ve suggested here. Think more along the lines of draft picks and mediocre young talent like what we gave to Calgary for a #2 center. face it, if we don’t get Richards, we can jsut plug Roy in at #1, get a #2 (less expensive than #1), and wait till next years FA…which will be much richer in talent. Patience pays off in the world of sports.

Well...
I wouldn’t get rid of Meyers, sorry. As for Parise, I know he is a winger, but we do have enough talent at wing to slide someone into the center position, maybe even Parise himself, just my opinion. Let the flaming begin… lol
Be ready for a decrease in production
The worst thing you can do to a forwards production is move him from the wing to center. Look at Boyes. We transitioned him, and he had a steep dropoff. Look at Hecht, he really isn’t a natural center. For your top lines, you really need natural centers to keep the production flowing.
