Portland Pirates Looking To Even Series With Binghamton In Game Four

After dropping the first two games at home to the Binghamton Senators, the Pirates avoided the dreaded 3-0 series deficit with a dramatic win on Saturday night. The team is looking to even the series on Monday night with another victory on the road.

The Pirates are being led in this series by Mark Mancari who is the only Pirate to score more than two goals in three games played. Mancari and forward Derek Whitmore are leading the team with four playoff goals each while Mancari has one extra assist in two less games. Tim Conboy was the hero for the Pirates on Saturday, scoring his first goal in two years with 12.5 seconds left in regulation to give the Pirates a three two victory.

Jhonas Enroth has only played one game in goal for the Pirates as he has spent most of the Calder Cup Playoffs with the Sabres. The majority of the workload has fallen on Williamsville native David Leggio who has a 5-3 record and a 2.83 goals against average and .908 save percentage in the playoffs.

The Senators are led by the two leading scorers in the playoffs Ryan Potulny and Ryan Keller. Potulny has eight goals and 17 points in the playoffs and has been held without a goal in this series. Keller has five goals and 13 points in the playoffs and two goals against the Pirates in the last three games.

Game time for the Pirates is 7:00 pm and can be seen on Time Warner Sports in Binghamton.

Awesome game 3. Glad I got to go and see them play. The winner was pretty sweet. Turnover in their own zone. Portland skated around a bit with the puck, found the open D man coming across the blue line, blasted it, goal!

Looks like Silver Seven has been doing a lot with this series. They’re probably pretty excited about their future as well (especially in contrast to their present).
I think it’s pretty cool that Gragnani scored on his first shift for Canada in the World Championships.

I think the AHL playoffs and World Championships in Slovakia are helping me deal with the end of the Sabres season a little bit. At least there are some teams and players to continue pulling for so we don’t have to quit cold turkey.
