This is it boys and girls - after all the talk, all the games, the slumping and the reemergance of these Buffalo Sabres - we could very well look back at this game today against the Carolina Hurricanes as the ultimate turning point of the season one way or another. Win in regulation and be right in the thick of a battle for 6th with Montreal - lose in regulation and it becomes a street fight to see who can conjure up enough points to dance for the 2010-2011 season. We will likely be doing so without our best goaltender to boot.
But this team has persevered admirably in the past few weeks - they have deserved to be in control of their own destiny for a reason. If they can play the way they did for Enroth against the Rangers a few days back - keeping the sight lines clear, setting up a barrier in front of him to prevent any funny stuff after the whistle, and playing a full 60 minutes in that fashion - i think we would have the advantage. But the second Enroth starts getting traffic in front of him - starts getting flustered, I think that is when this team starts having trouble.
I will say confidently that either way I feel that we see our best effort of the season in this game - from Carolina too. Should be a good one, folks.
