VIDEO: Paul Gaustad Takes Matters Into His Own Hands
Daniel Briere, who is sneaky with his hockey stick while controlling the puck or reverting to a cheap shot, decided to get close to Paul Gaustad on a face-off. A little too close for comfort, as Gaustad threw his former teammate down to the ice and then welcomed Scott Hartnell for a friendly postseason fight.
Helmets off and after both players paused to observe their teammates roughing each other up, a mutual agreement was conferred to start punching. A clean bout through and through, as neither forward tried a dirty trick to incapacitate his opponent, but Hartnell might have bit off more than he could chew. A traditional boxing judge would have voted in favor of the Goose for his unanimous decision.

Oh my God the Flyers announcers act like Hartnell is Nathan Gerbe and he just took on Milan Lucic. Give me a freaking break! According the hockeyfights.com, since 2005-06 (the first year Goose was in an NHL fight) Hartnell has been in 2 more fights than Goose, so they are pretty even in that respect (even though in career totals Hartnell has 21 more fights under his belt). Goose is only 2 inches and 20lbs larger than Hartnell, it’s not like he’s freaking Zdeno Chara with a ridiculous wingspan or something. Cry me a river, Hartnell wanted a piece of the Goose, and he got the whole thing! He didn’t take on someone way out of his league or anything, he just got dominated by a tougher guy! What a bunch of whiners they are in Philly! They made Briere seem tough because he cheap-shotted Kaleta too! Go cry in your cheesesteaks you Rocky-loving, Santa-hating douches!

If this is what you think about Flyers announcers
I’d hate to be around you as you listen to Paul Steigerwald and Bob Errey call Pittsburgh Penguin games………..

Typical Philly deflection of criticism.
Even Penguin diehards find Errey and Steigerwald too homerish.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
I’m sorry but 2 inches and 20lbs makes a huge difference in a fight. That and you’re talking about Coatesy, no one cares for him at all.

Que up "Tuff Enuff"
And I cracked up when Goose leveled Briere.
By the way, does anyone know why the “Ray rule” wasn’t invoked when Gaustad pulled his Jersey off? Isn’t that an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. That was the first thing I was yelling when it happened? Did I miss something there?

Yes, since the Ray Rule was written to combat a particular Sabre it is legal for it to be used against the Sabres.

I think on the TSN feed they said it was still attached to the pants but not the jersey.
So I guess Goose ripped it off.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
Brierre is a punk. He’s like that tiny kid in class that is always antagonizing bigger kids because he knows the big kid will get in trouble for fighting him. I hope someone destroys him in Buffalo.
GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!
NHL Rule 75.2(v)
A player who deliberately removes his jersey prior to participating in an altercation or who is clearly wearing a jersey that has been modified and does not conform to Rule 9 – Uniforms, shall be assessed a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and a game misconduct. If the altercation never materializes, the player would receive a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and a ten-minute misconduct for deliberately removing his jersey.
Note: the above rule is not applicable to members of the Philadelphia Flyers.
