The one thing that many Sabres fans would wish for with new ownership on board is if the one player that they cannot stand, Tim Connolly, were to be moved to a new team. Connolly has eight goals and thirteen assists on the season and is a team worse -13, which is technically a flawed statistic. Connolly showed his brilliance a few years ago and had people excited when the team was really good in 2005. Then he found himself in concussion hell and was never really the same from then. At times, Connolly still shows he has the talent, but he really hasn't done much with it this season.
Mike Harrington mentioned in today's Buffalo News that Connolly has garnered some interest in teams around the deadline:
He's an unrestricted free agent after the season and could be the kind of third-line center and special teams player that a club like Pittsburgh, Washington or Los Angeles might be interested in as the NHL trade deadline looms next Monday.
Connolly has the talent to be a good player and I believe that he could be a fantastic player on another team. He has the talent and he probably is getting in his own head at this point. A change of scenery could do him and the Sabres very well.
