The Buffalo Sabres have been bad at home and that might very well be an understatement. They are 6-8-1 at home, with one of those games being a defacto home game in Europe. The Sabres have had some shaky goaltending at home, with Ryan Miller having a 2-4 record, a 3.90 goals against average, and a .879 save percentage. They have also had some good goaltending as Jhonas Enroth has a 4-4-1 record with a 2.15 goals against average and .931 save percentage. All of this comes into play as the Sabres embark on a five game home stand starting with Wednesday night's game against the Flyers.
The last time the Flyers came to town, the Flyers scored three goals in the first six and a half minutes, chased Ryan Miller, and subsequently won the game 3-2. That game, in front of a national television audience, set off the Ryan Miller debate among Sabres fans. Fast forward a month and Ryan Miller will get his chance to redeem himself as he will be the starting goaltender. Miller is coming off an injury suffered with the Lucic hit and played one of his best games of the season against the Predators.
The Sabres are still very injured. Tyler Myers, Brad Boyes, Patrick Kaleta, Mike Weber, Jordan Leopold, and Cody McCormick. The Sabres recalled Joe Finley who played a total of 12 minutes in the two games that he was featured in over the weekend, eight minutes the first night and four minutes the second. Finley still hasn't adjusted to the pro game and will probably see very limited time tonight against the Flyers.
The Flyers are coming off some injuries of their own as James van Riemsdyk will return to the lineup after missing the last few games with a muscle tear. Chris Pronger has been out of the lineup since the middle of November with a knee injury.
Game time is 7:30 pm and can be seen on Versus, which is always fun.
