Sabres Prospects Stock Up/Down - November 2, 2011

It is Wednesday which means it is time for the weekly look at the Sabres prospects. Luckily, it is a Sabres gameday because most of the prospects struggled through this week. Some were outstanding but most had weeks they would like to forget.

Follow the jump to see the good and the bad for the past week.

Star-divide

Player -Team Draft Position Status Description
Kevin Sundher - WHL 44

Up_medium

(3GP 6G-1A-7P, +3) Sundher likes playing against the Seattle Thunderbirds. He had seven points, including six goals, in a pair of games against the Thunderbirds last weekend.
Jerome Gauthier-Leduc - QMJHL 68

Down_medium

(2GP 0G-0A-0P, 0) Gauthier-Leduc has finally started to cool down this season. He still has 11 goals and 26 points in only 14 games, despite having no points this week.
Dan Catenacci - OHL 77 Dash_medium  (3GP 0G-4A-4P, -1) Catenacci remains one of the top point scorers in the OHL, averaging over a point per game. Usually four assists in three games would earn an up arrow but his minus-1 forced me to keep him at neutral.
 Steven Shipley - OHL 98
Dash_medium
(1GP 0G-0A-0P, -1) Shipley did not produce in his return from injury but just being on the ice is a huge plus for Shipley.
 Cedrick Henley - QMJHL 173

Up_medium

(2GP 1G-2A-3P, +3) Henley did not match his output from last week, but he continues to produce. All five of his goals were scored in the last two weeks and eight of his 15 points have been in the last five games as well.
Mark Pysyk - WHL 23 Dash_medium  (2GP 0G-3A-3P, E) Pysyk might finally be turning the corner this season. He has huge expectations within the Sabres organization because of his high draft selection and he has not been much of a factor.
Joel Armia - SM Liiga 16 Down_medium  (2GP 0G-0A-0P) Armia had six penalty minutes in his two contests this week and he did not play in a third.
 Gregg Sutch - OHL 143

Up_medium

(3GP 2G-1A-3P, -1)Sutch is one of the few Sabres prospects on the rise this week. His two goals were double the one he had previously and he doubled his season point totals.
Justin Jokinen - WCHA 101 Dash_medium  Did not play.
 Alex Lepowski - OHL 137

Up_medium

(1GP 0G-0A-0P, -1) Lepowski was a minus-1 in his return from injury but he finally returned to the lineup after over a three week absence because of injury.
Brad Navin - WCHA 197 Dash_medium  (2GP 0G-0A-0P, 0) It is difficult to make the transition to the NCAA for most players. Navin has played seven games for the Badgers which should help his development considerably.
Christian Iasackson - WCHA 203 Dash_medium  Did not play.
Drew Mackenzie - HE 209 Dash_medium Did not play
Colin Jacobs - WHL 107 Dash_medium  (Did not Play)
Mark Adams - HE 134 Dash_medium  (Did not Play)
 Nathan Lieuwen - WHL 167

Up_medium

(2GP, 2-0-0, 1.50GAA .950 sv%)Lieuwen continues his ridiculous season in the WHL. He has a 1.45 GAA on the season and yet he has somehow lost twice in regulation this season and twice in a shootout.
Brad Eidsness - WCHA 139 Down_medium  Did not play. After a terrible week last week, he didn't see the ice this week.
Connor Knapp - CCHA 164 Down_medium  (1GP, 0-1-0, 8.89GAA .733 sv%)Knapp was awful in his brief appearance this week. He allowed four goals on 15 shots and lasted only 27 minutes before he was replaced by Cody Reichard. It is amazing to see how far his stock has dropped in a couple of seasons.

Would give Leduc an even

Hopefully you have a solid floor or Armia may plummet through it. Let’s hope the healthy scratch message was received and Armia will bounce back..

Go Sabres!

You have to keep in mind Armia is playing against adults, unlike everyone else who is in a junior league.

True, but he was doing better last year...

I’m hoping Pysyk can return to last year’s form soon.

Go Sabres!

Lieuwen

I thought that the Sabres may have offered him a contract after his performance in the rookie tournament and gotten him pro experience in Gwinnett.

They already sent a goalie to Gwinnett. They probably thought he would get more playing time in Kootenay.

They have to resign both Leggio and MacIntyre next year as well so maybe they decide which one they like better and then bring Lieuwen into Rochester next season.
