The Answer for the Bruins Rematch
His name is David Koci...6' 6"...240 lbs...current UFA...100% Goon
His NHL career stat line reads:
| NHL totals | 142 | 3 | 1 | 4 | 461 | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
142 Games Played
3 Goals
1 assist
4 points
461 PIMS
A 2 way deal would cost next to nothing...and he sure would come in handy a few times a year when Boston come a calling.
Yes...we all known that Darcy would never pull a deal off like this...but its nice to dream isnt it...

We don’t need hired thugs to deal with Boston. We can play a physical game and win without need for goonery. McCormick, Gaustad, Kaleta, Regehr, and Weber can hold their own. Even Gerbe can get in the mix. That should be plenty of guys to respond to any altercations. Remember, in our home games, we control the matchups. It’s up to Lindy whether he wants to risk being fined/penalized/fired over ordering a line brawl (see: Ottawa, 2007). But short of that, he can let his tougher guys play their game, and we have plenty of scoring power to beat Boston as well. Last game, we sucked defensively. Hopefully by next week we’ll have build up some more confidence and sustained defensive cohesiveness to prevent another lapse.
Besides, if we really wanted to put a goon in the lineup for select games, we could just call up Zack Kassian.

Hasn’t he already ended the careers of two players?

Kaleta also ended someones career…

I rec’d that shit.
I think Scott Stevens and Gary Suter have more to do with Kariya’s career ending Kaleta’s hit was just he last in the long line of head injuries for Paul. I rooted for Kariya growing up on the West Coast. I really wish we could have seen what he could have accomplished with out all the head trauma. Watching him and Selanne play together was unreal at times.

Hiring a Goon to be a Goon makes you no Better than the Goons who acted like a Goon to begin with.

about that
you mean just like Vancouver did to them last year? Out finessed them?
The purist approach didnt work then – with more talent – and a lesser team like ours cant do it either. We are one-dimensional and just adding McCormick in a late season panic had done nothing to change it. He’s only one man against a whole platoon of men.
We have the likes of Drew “Awesome Workout Video” Stafford who gets power forward pay and comes up small in the crunch. Bet on it.
He’s only one of many we need to deal if we hope to be balanced like the bruins are. Those goons did score SIX on us remember?
PS the regular season record is as significant in a team sport as “who was ahead at halftime?”
yea that Vancouver team. And besides the fact that it went 7 games, it wasnt even CLOSE. Boston’s wins were massacres and Vancouver wins were lucky 1 goal wins.
Ah, okay
so when you win it’s skill and hard work. When the other guys win it’s luck and bad bounces. Got it.

Unfortunately, rematches after extremely physical or emotional games are usually big letdowns. I’d rather come out with the 2 points than see Lucic fight McCormick or Gaustad for 45 seconds.
I’d almost rather at this point have the team make him keep thinking we’re coming after him and try to bait him into a couple bad penalties thinking there’s about to be something. The response should’ve been immediate, since it wasn’t just make him and Thomas focus more on keeping their heads on swivels.
Kaleta’s trademark ‘smash into the boards right next to your face as hard as humanly possible’ should do the trick. It always seems to piss most players off enough to make them take stupid penalties. He could even hipcheck a defenseman right into the goalmouth, if he does it legally. But if we go the draw penalties/mental games route, it won’t be satisfying at all unless we win the game. I think we need to just go out there and play a complete game, no backing down. Prove we can dominate them. Playoff intensity levels. Every shift should be live or die for that one game. And if a Bruin even breathes on Enroth or makes an even slightly questionable hit on any player, all bets are off. Line brawls bigger than that Ottawa game. We might lose some of the fights, but no one will be able to question our team’s integrity.
Another thing about Goonery.
This blood lust makes me think that there are Sabre fans who want a repeat of that Penguins/Islanders game from last year. Which is by far the biggest embarrassment the NHL has had in some time.
I’d like to see some heart and passion and standing up for your teammates. I want to see Lindy Ruff foaming at the mouth. I want people to send a message “YOU DON’T GO AFTER OUR CAPTAIN!” But I don’t want Goonery. Acting like a goon is the wrong approach. We’re beyond Gladiatorial Blood Sport as a society and we should be beyond Goonery as a response to something bad happening.

That’s the Ottawa/Buffalo brawl from 2007. Listen to what Rob Ray says at the 3:50 mark.. sounds familiar.

Really? You think a game where the officiating lost control and players were out to just hurt other people was Legendary? That’s simply RIDICULOUS. That game wasn’t what hockey is about.

The islanders got everything they deserved (fines, etc.) when they dressed a player specifically to attack Max Talbot.

What gets me is that they had this huge, overblown reaction to a clean hit.
The attack on Talbot could have easily turned out like the Burtuzzi/Moore incident.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
not the answer
being a goon to the goons isnt the answer.
also, Koci and Chara have a history which Koci would probably like to forget: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYch5rjNe6M
