Sabres Week 3 Stock Up/Stock Down

The Buffalo Sabres are now 5-2 on the young NHL season and finished Week 3 in the NHL with a 2-1 record after victories over the Montreal Canadiens and Florida Panthers and a loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. As the team gets closer to the ten game mark of the season, the sample sizes get bigger and trends start to develop. Good teams at this point are usually good teams at the end of the season. The same holds true for bad teams as well.

Player Status Description
Luke Adam http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, -2) This was the first week that Adam didn't register a point, but still is playing well with Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville.
Brad Boyes http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217737/down.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, -1) The newest scapegoat for Sabres fans generated some chances late in the Panthers game, but otherwise has still been very quiet.
Christian Ehrhoff http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (1 goal, 0 assists, 1 point, -1) Ehrhoff has been playing acceptable defense and his goal this week was an empty net goal against the Canadiens.
Tyler Ennis http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217737/down.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, 2 PIM, +1) Ennis has been struggling offensively so he cut his hair. In the next game, he ran into the post and appears to have injured his ankle.
Paul Gaustad http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, 5 PIM, +2) Gaustad had a nice fight against Matt Bradley of the Panthers and his line with Kaleta and Gerbe has created some chances early this season
Nathan Gerbe http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, -1) While the Honey Badger still only has one goal on the season, he is still creating some chances offensively.
Marc-Andre Gragnani http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (0 goals, 2 assists, 2 points, 2 PIM, +1) Gragnani's +1 this week is promising after having some defensive miscues in the past few weeks. His job is still on the line and may still find himself in the press box for Mike Weber
Patrick Kaleta http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, 2 PIM, Even) Kaleta has been relatively quiet this season with his first penalty minutes happening against the Lightning. He is still averaging 1.5 penalties drawn per 60 minutes which is good for second on the team.
Ville Leino http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217737/down.png (0 goals, 1 assist, 1 point, -1) Along with Boyes, Leino has drawn the ire of many Sabres fans. He made a nice play on a Pominville goal against the Panthers, but has been uninspiring other than that.
Jordon Leopold http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (1 goal, 0 assists, 1 points, -1) Leopold has been quiet for much of this season, with his goal against the Canadiens being a case of being in the right place at the right time.
Cody McCormick http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217733/up.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, 5 PIM, -1) McCormick had a pivotal fight against Travis Moen of the Canadiens which jump started the team and led to the win.
Tyler Myers http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (0 goals, 1 assist, 1 point, Even) Myers has quietly been having a solid defensive season playing with Regehr.
Jason Pominville http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217733/up.png (1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points, +2) Along with Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville is still playing out of his mind. His goal against the Panthers was a thing of beauty
Robyn Regehr http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217733/up.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, Even) Regehr was never expected to be an offensive force on this team and he is performing his job well covering for others mistakes.
Derek Roy http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217733/up.png (0 goals, 2 assists, 2 points, 2 PIM, +1) Roy has been playing well in the past few games, playing a pivotal role in the 3-1 victory over the Canadiens.
Andrej Sekera http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217733/up.png (0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points, +3) Sekera is proving to be one of the better defensive defensemen on this team with a team leading +6 through seven games.
Drew Stafford http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (0 goals, 1 assist, 1 point, 2 PIM, Even) Stafford had a quiet week scoring wise, but did have a nifty assist on the opening goal against the Canadiens.
Thomas Vanek http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217733/up.png (3 goals, 0 assists, 3 points, 4 PIM, +2) Vanek is still on pace for 69 goals this season. While that won't happen, he very well may hit his 50 goal potential.
Jochen Hecht http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217725/cross.png (Did not play, injured) Hecht has been working his way back into the lineup and very well may be ready to play, but with the Sabres offense clicking well might not find a way into the lineup.
Mike Weber http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (Did not play, scratched) Weber is the unfortunate scratch on the defense. I would expect him to get a game in soon just to keep him fresh.
Ryan Miller http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217733/up.png

(2-1-0, 1.00 GAA, .965 SV%) Miller played extremely well this week, including having a 122 minute shutout streak. Lone bad game was the 2 goals allowed to the Lightning

Jhonas Enroth http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png (Did not play, benched) Was supposed to play one game this week but Ryan Miller played so well this week that it didn't happen. Should play one game next week.
