“He leads the Sabres in Penalty Minutes”

Someone said on Twitter that Gerbe actually did lead the team in penalty minutes in the playoff series against Philly, so without doing any research myself, I’m guessing that’s where the SVU thing comes from. That’s pretty cool. Why the heck were they talking about him anyway, did anybody watch the episode?

I bet there's a writer from Buffalo
There was a writer I believe for the X-Files who used to slip in Bills and Sabres references occasionally. There’s a lot of Buffalo in Hollywood. In fact, I think it would be pretty cool if Pegula and Black got some of the celebrities who are Buffalo fans to create little videos for the Jumbotron.
He had 18 penalty minutes in last years playoffs (i just looked it up). Maybe he was given a 10 minute misconduct along the way as that seems excessive for a 7 game span considering he’s not known for dishing out punishment. And of all the Sabres players to name drop on national TV…

I saw the whole episode; it was about a couple from Buffalo who claimed their baby was in the car when it was stolen in NYC (as it turned out, their baby died of SIDS in a hotel room in Binghamton, they buried it when they got to NYC and concocted the story about their car being stolen) . . . Gerbe’s name got mentioned in a scene where detectives Tutuola [Ice-T] and Rollins [Kelli Giddish] were in Buffalo to talk to the mother’s sister . . .

Some day
The Sabres will actually invest a lot of money in a skilled Free agent Center who can actually play Center.
That only works if:
A) There is one available
and
B) He wants to come here

I’m not faulting anyone. Just saying that it’s been the unattainable dream for many years. And B shouldn’t be an excuse anymore.
I see your point. Still, it seemed like we exited the Brad Richards race due to him pretty much wanting to be a Ranger and hang with Torts. Also, there really is no upcoming high-skilled centers coming available in the next few years of free agency….at least ones that I think will end up entering UFA.
So far though, Luke Adam looks REAL good….so maybe we found our center? After I said this, I knocked on wood until my knuckles bled.

Leino
I like the guy and think it’s still too early to start hounding him. That being us, not Lindy. If he needs to send a message than so be it. His line had/has demonstrated good puck control within the offensive zone. The problem of course being that they rarely generate chances. I’m not too certain a shift to winger would drastically improve or even change his playing style. His face-off percentages are unfortunate however. Boyes too has been in the doghouse this season. Perhaps we sit Boyes in place of Hecht who will take over center and move Leino to the wing? That’s how i would address the situation. No telling how well it’d work but i reckon it’s a viable option with potential for success.
