Rob Niedermayer was not brought to Buffalo for his scoring touch, but his drought of 40 games is growing thick. He's been dependable for ten goals or more over the years and now, the veteran is at a point where they are not even bothering to spell his last name right on a jersey.
One of six players to have not scored a goal, Niedermayer has seen the most ice from this select group and the separation from the others is wide. Two full months and a couple of weeks into April remain for him to possibly end this period, fending off what might be his first goalless season in 17 years.
As we've seen, the Sabres are receiving contributions from a variety of players and Shaone Morrisson's overtime winner in Ottawa proves that a goal or two may decide the campaign. They are experiencing tightly contested matches seemingly to a regular degree. Even doubling a lead on an empty net would satisfy him and the club at this point.
So, can Niedermayer finally secure himself a marker and do it under meaningful stipulations? We'd like to hear where you stand and your thoughts on this ordeal.
