Kaleta is the perfect type of player to have on your team. The reason for that is because he is the one person that irritates an entire fanbase if they have to face him. Reminiscent of how current ESPN analyst Matthew Barnaby played back in the day, Kaleta has that sandpaper type ability to get under the skin of his opponent and force them to do things they wouldn't normally do. Kaleta had 89 penalty minutes last season and over the past three seasons, Kaleta has drawn 72 more penalties than he has taken.
While that type of play is something that this team always needs, its something that Kaleta doesn't always provide. In his four seasons in the NHL, Kaleta has never played more than 60 games in a season due mainly to injuries. With Kaleta's near reckless style of play, injuries are sure to follow. One of the main points for Kaleta to have a great season is to play for most of the season.
Three Year Stats
|2010-2011 Projected Stats||60||10||7||17||2||100||0||1|
One major thing sticks out to me as I look at Kaleta's three year stats in that as his shots have increased, so has his goal production. If Kaleta throws 100 shots on net, who is to say that he couldn't score 15 goals. Realistically though, Kaleta will probably match his production from last season of 10 goals and roughly 15 points in the same amount of games. No matter how well Kaleta will play this season, he will miss some time due to injury, its just the nature of his game.
