Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

Come on guys..

I understand that everyone is frustrated with the first round exit from the playoffs, but let's be real. This talk about trading away Roy and Connolly is pretty ridiculous, they were our two leading scorers. Don't get me wrong I was real disappointed with Connolly's performance in the playoffs, but no GM is going to give Buffalo what he's worth because of his injury trouble. We should be talking about getting rid of a chronic under-performer Drew Stafford and I know we would not get a whole lot for him, but I think it's time for him to move on and give one of the young guys in Portland a shot at his spot.

I hear you guys it would be nice to add Paul Martin or Kaberle, but what makes you think Darcy will suddenly change his tune and try to bring in one of those big name D-men? For the last 13 years Buffalo has been a build through the draft and from within the organization kinda of team, but signing players like a Rivet and Grier for toughness and leadership. Martin is going to want $5 million+ and there is no way Buffalo will pay that. Tallinder and Lydman are two of the top UFA D-men this offseason and I can't see either of them asking for much more than they made last season, which was about $3 million each. Buffalo will re-sign either Tallinder or Lydman, likely Tallinder to continue pairing with Myers, but the other's spot will go to Sekera, Gragnani or Weber. Both Gragnani and Weber are RFA's and quality D-men and it would be a shame to let both of them get away for nothing.

I know that Darcy is not afraid to make a trade, but remember the Briere trade. Briere was not a star right away, he was young with loads of potential and eventually become a star. It is nice to dream, but we gotta remember who is running the team and their track record.

Let's Go Buffalo!

Unfortunately, you're right...

Unless you can find a player who’s a more physical C who puts up similar numbers we’re stuck with the turnover machine power play killers.

Oh wait…..

Tim Connolly – 17 Goals, 48 Assists.
Matt Lombardi – 19 goals 34 assists.

im not sure if i read your point right, but those arent exactly equal numbers…

though I have to admit I like the prospect of Lombardi on the team more than Connelly simply because I’m tired of being disappointed by his production

MAYBE this will break the mold , we need to come to play sunday and this year we will not SURRENDER TO KNOW ONE THIS IS BUFFALOOO Godzilla nation

Again, why cant both be on the team? I dont understand this rational… its not like we have to trade for Lombardi… we can have both on the team.

well honestly neither have anything to do with the other except that they fulfill similar roles, except Connelly largely has disappointed when hes called on to lead and produce in crunchtime and Lombardi is younger

I see this more about replacing connelly with lombardi if he is moved

The only problem I see with having both of them is we will start to look like Pittsburgh. We will have 3 solid centers with no wingers to help them out. But then again, we could always move one of them to wing, or actually sign a decent winger. (but who am I kidding, Regier sign big name talent early in free agency? Good one…)

Tallinder. You know what he did for Myers, keep him for another year with the big guy. Let Lydman walk… good player… but replaceable.

Word. There no way the brass should let that break up. With the rejuvination of Hank, the Calder for Myers, and a successful season for both. I think they should let Tony walk and keep Hank on for 2 more

I agree, I’d like them to sign Tallinder for probably 2yrs let him play with Myers they did great together, although Tallinder can be weak in his own zone when it comes to getting the puck out in desperate situation which I cant stand, but he’s better than Lydman and was a solid pair with Myers so why not sign him even if he wants a little more money wouldn’t sign him for longer than 3yrs tho, I think he’s looking for at least a 4yr deal which may be why Regier hasn’t resigned him and I don’t blame him we have two many defensive prospects that may look for roster spots in 2 to 3 yrs. That way we would just have to sign maybe one defensemen possibly Corvo then give Weber or even Gragnani a shot. I wish they’d get Martin, but even tho on some websites its says we’re the front runners with minnesota I still don’t believe it with Regier making the decisions and I’d like to see Stafford and Sekera traded for a pick and have us sign Lombardi or Cullen.

Idk I felt like Myers made Tallinder a better player, it didn’t seem like Tallinder played a major roll in Myers’ success. Get another shut down defensmen to give the sabres the most dominant top 2 defensmen in the league for next year and keep lydman as a solid number 3/4

The Sabres need to sign a player like Martin who can help our powerplay. There are only a few cogs missing in the Sabres machine to make us a contender again, and the powerplay is definitely one of them.

When will Regier make a move???

Looks like all those Martin rumors were false, who really thought Regier would go after a guy like that. Regier better have something decent up his sleeve or he’s going to have a lot of angry Buffalonians looking to tear him apart. Some good names are still out their and trades are still possible, Idk what he plans on doing I hope he doesn’t trade Roy if he goes the trade route, Roy is under a great contract and produces good numbers. But who will Regier get Cullen, Jokinen, Lombardi, Kariya, Corvo, Tallinder, Mckee or maybe he’s looking at Hamhuis now that Martins been scooped up by Pitt?I wouldn’t mind seeing any of those guys here seeing that the other big FA are gone. Is Kaberle still in play possibly and what about goalie now that Biron was scooped up will we take a look at TheodoreDoes anyone have any info or ideas???

hes sorta been toein this line since 07, and this is practically a foregone conclusion given his history in early July

Yea hes officially risking getting killed by Sabres fans now

Corvo’s about the only good D man left I bet we get him in the next few hours unless Darcy has a trade in the works, which I highly doubt. Why doesn’t Quinn/Galisano see how stupid Darcy is ooo probably because they know nor do they care anything about hockey.
