Daily Links for Thursday, June 3
Hopefully you were watching some sort of sporting event last night, because it was a wild night in multiple sports. Obviously we had an overtime thriller in Philly, but there was also an unbelievable blown call in baseball that took away a perfect game from Tigers pitcher Armando Galaragga. The hockey game used instant replay to get the call right twice (once in OT) and it looks like, after this, baseball will seriously consider having to follow suit.

Not a huge baseball fan… but things like that make me and others not watch the sport any more. A friend text me saying a perfect game was going on… so I switched over to MLB Network… Im watching. I was pulling for the kid. And then for that ump to make that call is unbelievable. How no other ump can overturn that call is crazy to me. That kid throws a perfect game… 1 of, what would have been 21, in the history of the sport… and it gets taken away from him by an umpire. Pathetic. And I dont care that the ump “feels bad” damn right, you should feel bad. You just took a perfect game away from a kid that will probably never get that chance again. Congrats Joyce… you will be remembered forever by screwing up.
"Ok, its Gudda hoe, all about my Bills like Buffalo."
I was flabbergasted that none of the other umps ran over to at least have a conference about it. Just a weird confluence of events.
Exactly.
There are 6? umps out there on the field at a time. No one thought that was the wrong call??
"Ok, its Gudda hoe, all about my Bills like Buffalo."
Aren’t there 4? Thought there were 6 only in the playoffs. But regardless, should’ve conferenced if there was any doubt at all.
Shutdown Pair

Thats right. 4 – regular season. 6 – playoffs. Still same point though. Multiple umps are there to help out others with maybe poor view or if they make a wrong call. Happens all the time with “trapped” balls in the outfield. Cant think of why none of the other 3 stepped in and said something.

And nice caption Andy… Nothing says leader like butterfly stretches.
