In the first trade of the deadline, the Phoenix Coyotes have reacquired Derek Morris for a fourth round pick in 2011 from the Boston Bruins. Derek Morris was apart of the Phoenix Coyotes from 2004-08 and played a total of 288 games with 25 goals and 93 points. Morris was traded for Petr Prucha, Nigel Dawes and Dmitri Kalinin back in 2008.
Coyotes site, Five For Howling, had this to say about the deal:
I can't believe that all it took to get Morris was a 4th round pick in next year's draft. That's an outstanding move to get a guy that we never wanted to trade away in the first place. Basically that move to trade him means we get him and Petr Prucha for a 4th. Who wouldn't take that?
This is a good move for the Coyotes who are in position for the playoffs for the first time since 2003 and for Boston as well as they clear space for more moves.
