Regier Talks Trade Deadline
Comments that Sabres GM Darcy Regier made yesterday can be found in a Globe and Mail article from this morning.
"There will be a lot of players shifting teams. Unfortunately, as indicated by the past, most of the trades will not amount to much."
"I'm not suggesting the players involved will not have value. But the impact of most of the trades is not nearly as big as the hype."
"I don't put a lot of value in the rental market because I don't see the sense in giving up assets for someone who will become an unrestricted free agent in a few months. You've got to get someone who will help you beyond this year."
"I don't feel obligated to make a move just for the sake of making a move. We have some kids in the American Hockey League who are almost ready to come up and they could help us as much as anyone we could trade for."

We say that every year though and then Darcy makes a move for a small role player. Not usually does he make a big splash.

The Sabres have a bunch of great NHL ready players in the AHL
On a whim we could call up Weber, Ennis, Gerby and be a better team.
But management has been reluctant to do so, even during injuries and losing streaks. I’m sure we’d all love to see Ennis or Gerbe instead of Adam Mair, but for one reason or another we haven’t yet.
Ill even take it a step further… I would rather them playing forward (which they are) than Paetcsh (which hes not) lol. Thats what got me pissed during those injuries/poor play times. Moving our 7th D-man to a wing instead of bringing up forward. Granted he scored when he played wing, but I’ll take my chances with Gerbe or Ennis over Mair, Ellis, Paetcsh at forward. Expecially since we need goals!!!
