This is the game thread for this evening. My apologies on the lack of a complete game thread. It is another one of those busy weekends and I can't be around too much. My broadcasting commitment is almost over and I will be able to devote more time to weekend games. Enjoy the game tonight because I will be watching it on the good ole DVR.

The last few weeks....
I know how this is going to sound. But seriously – our passes out of our zone are either too long or too short.
How many times are a pass “cleared but not out” anymore? Or how many are intercepted for an odd man play?

4-on-4 and you skate like you want to kill off time. Not sure why – WHEN THE PUCK IS IN YOUR ZONE – but okay. I’ll take it.
Now your guy gets out of the box. 5-on-4. First thing you do? At your own blue line? You throw a bank pass off the boards that’s… just… too… far.
Or to put it in other words? You give the puck to the other team… yeah, that’d be the shorthanded team… just over the center line.

Except there was no Sabre player within 10 feet.
Neither player stopped, so the ref would have only called it if detroit was in the blue paint.
Of course, i’d like them to call it anyways…

For the record guys....
I’m an optimist. Check out my record. Not sure why I’m this cranky tonite.
Oh. Wait. I saw the game last night.
Thank God that 3 game win streak pretty much put us playing in late April. We can use the excuse that Lindy is finding the right chemistry for then.
The sad thing form what I saw was that is wasn’t the “effort”. It was everything else.
Bad breaks. Poor communication. SLOPPY DEFENSE. Good goaltending from the Wild. Passes that… just… missed.
You name it. But it looked like the “effort” was there. Just – I hope – a lack of chemistry.
I live about as far from a home Sabres game as an Indians game.
The difference being that you can count on I-90 being open during the summer.
I had season tickets to the Indians. Never would consider that with the Sabres. I did think about getting a mini-package though a few seasons ago.
My point is – yeah, I can bet last night wasn’t fun. At least you know this team is likely to play an 83rd game. (My tickets for the Tribe were in 2004-2005, an in 2005 they couldn’t win a game in the last week if their life depended upon it.)

Hey, all told no complaints.
You start with a 2-0 deficit against the defending West champs who are playing much better nowadays. Add in NO DAMN CALLS by the refs. A splash of NHL rules about what is an automatic delay of game whether it’s deliberate or, you, know, decides the outcome of a game.
Yeah. No complaints. This from the optimist who started tonite in a real cranky mood.
