Ilya Kovalchuk Traded To New Jersey Devils - SB Nation
It looks like the Devils see an opportunity and they are taking it. This puts a little more pressure on Darcy and Company.

A good deal for NJ if....
they sign Kovalchuk long-term, otherwise not so good. Still, this is a bit scary for us for the rest of this year. Devils, Caps, Pens, Sharks, Blackhawks – all very tough. Yikes, what a great Stanley Cup chase this should be this spring.
It's a good deal for NJ if and only if
they win the Cup this year. They just went all in. They’ve got 10 UFA/RFAs next year not including Kovy.
agreed
I’d pay him only as a rental (and not in Buffalo – I wouldn’t want him to begin with). But for a player demanding over $10M/year…he’s not THAT good. Either he is, IMO, overestimating his worth, OR he really doesn’t like living in Atlanta.
