A Guide to FanShots and FanPosts
We have seen a huge increase in traffic and participation recently and I thought it would be a good time to share some tips on FanShots and FanPosts. The SB Nation tech team has built some powerful tools to make this and other sites into true sports communities. The tools are of no use when people don't know how to use them properly. I hope this tutorial will help take this site to the next level.
Below is a quick glance at each tool but follow this link for a more complete guide to both FanShots and FanPosts.
FanShots
FanShots are quick posts, links, images or videos.
When Should You Post a FanShot?
- Whenever you find a link, a quote, a video or a photo that you think your fellow Die by the Blade Readers will enjoy.
- When you don't have any commentary to add other to the link, video, photo or quote.
- When you can't meet the 75-word minimum for a FanPost.
FanPosts
FanPosts are just like front page stories, except they're written by you, the Die by the Blade reader.
Tagging
Tagging may seem like an afterthought, but it shouldn't be treated as such. Tagging is critically important to making sure your content is viewed by as many potentially interested people as possible, as it helps your content show up in searches and in dynamically-rendered content areas, such as on a player page or in the "More from Die by the Blade" box at the bottom of each post.

I realize I posted something in fanposts that probably should be in fanshots. Hey I am new to this interactive media thing…

No Worries
this isn’t directed at you in any way. In fact it was something I have been planning for quite sometime now. The tools can be confusing and I want to make them as easy as possible for everyone.
