Sabres 1, Lightning 3: The Sabres Leave Florida With Just A Suntan
For a team that laid an egg against the Florida Panthers, one goal and 23 shots on net is not the best game to comeback with. The Tampa Bay Lightning only needed three goals against the Sabres to defeat them on Saturday night in front of 17,141 at the St. Pete Times Forum.
Simon Gagne started the scoring in the second period with a powerplay goal and Steven Stamkos scored six minutes later to give the Lightning a 2-0 lead. Jason Pominville brought the game within one with a goal late in the second period. Martin St. Louis scored on a empty net goal to give the Lightning a 3-1 win.
St. Louis had two assists while Vincent Lecavalier, Mattias Ohlund, and Ryan Malone each had an assist of their own. For the Sabres, Jochen Hecht and Andrej Sekera had assists.
The game started off on a physical tone with Tim Connolly breaking his nose and missing the rest of the period after getting smashed into the boards from a shoulder to shoulder hit from Nate Thompson. That hit set the tone for the rest of the period and the game really, with a total of 37 hits in the game.
The Buffalo Sabres travel home for two games before heading on the road during the World Junior Championships. For those of you that missed the game, here are the highlights:

Basically we went to Florida
And got sand kicked in our face
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
Sabres win/loss record update:
Against backup goalies: 10-3-2
Against starting goalies: 3-13-2 (2 of the 3 wins in shootouts, so more like 1-13-4)
This astounds me.
Off topic, but...

This was a “no goal” from the Rangers-Flyers game. How much do the War Room guys get paid? I’d like to apply for a job there.
