I dunno how many times I've heard "we just don't have a superstar", but isn't it time we try to get one again (other than Miller)? The last one we had was Hasek, LaFontaine & Mogilny before that, and the French Connection before that. That's roughly every 10-15 years.
Vanek is having a bad year and will return to his 40 goal-per-season output (starting next year), but he may not hit the 50 goal seasons we paid him for. Couple the fact that all we have is Miller with the fact our offense is not producing and BINGO, we need Kovalchuk.
What do you guys think the odds are?
1) Chicago, NYI, Boston and Philly are looking at him.
2) ATL probably wouldn't send him to anyone in their conference.
3) ATL knows it's ticket-sales suicide if they trade him, so they will probably dish out the money.
But seriously, what are the odds of him coming to Buffalo, even if just for this playoff run? Do you think Darcy and Larry are even thinking about it? What would the deal be, who and/or what would go?
