Georges Laraque
I am asking this because when I think about it he wouldn't be a bad addition to the Sabres. Don't get me wrong, I want the Sabres to win, and to do that their current style doesn't really involve much fighting. I do although think that we would benefit from a true enforcer that plays better than Peters did. We have Ennis coming up, Gerbe coming up, Kennedy here, Miller to Protect... etc... etc... and I really think we need to look at someone like him as a possible "protector" of all of this talent. (small talent I may add) He is a good locker room guy, a grinder and I am not sure if he isn't the best battler in the league. Rivet, Mair and Gaustad can fight, but we need them not to get hurt.
For some reason I just think he fits as a Sabre. -Besides I miss the occasional fight that we actually win.
What does everyone think?

Maybe....but
I love George, and i think he could be useful to the team bringing unquestioned toughness however, i’ve watched him play recently and his skills have deteriorated greatly. He has trouble getting up and down the ice and couldn’t keep up to the likes of Kennedy and Kaleta for example. Our 4th line provides quality shifts and are integral to the teams success so far and disrupting that would be a mistake. There really is no fighting in the playoffs so wasting a roster spot on him, i think, would be foolish.
Well, considering that Gainey kicked him out because he had become a distraction and wasn’t cutting it on their team; I’d say no. Besides we have a glut of forwards, who would sit for him?
Lastly, it just isn’t happening. We’re winning as a team and if toughness loses us some games Lindy said it would be addressed i.e. call up Cody McCormick from Portland.
Who would you sit for Laraque to play as well. Its not like your going to bench Kaleta and Ellis and Mair seem to fit in the fourth line pretty well. I don’t need to pay someone $1.5 million cap wise and send the Canadiens something, because he is still technically a Canadien until the season ends, for five minutes of production a game. If I wanted that, I would have kept Peters at a cheaper price.

bring up Zack
Kassian, that guy loves to drop the gloves. But like the previous posts, we haven’t really needed this aspect of the game thus far.

Kassian is still in the minors, and is currently serving a 20-game suspension for a headshot.
McCormick or Cowan would be the appropriate players to bring up (from Portland) if we’re looking for a fighter. Rest assured, though, the Sabres are not looking for a wasted roster spot. They would be idiots to sign Laraque.
