I disagree about Kessell
He hasnt made a huge impact for the Leafs on the score sheet, but if you watch that team, they are way better with him in the lineup. His speed is a difference maker. He needs help and to adjust to his teammates more. This was a good trade in my book. A first round pick is no guarantee but Kessel’s talent is.

That's not the point of the article.
It’s that they mortgaged the future for him. Right now they’re fighting for the number 1 draft pick so that they can give it to the Bruins. They’re a team that needs to officially rebuild and instead of doing that they gave up way too much for a player that wasn’t going to be that much of a difference maker. Instead of gaining two young top flight talents this year and next, plus another 2nd rounder, they got one player and no team around him. (Despite the fact that his teammates are actually outperforming their career expectations.) He needs help but there’s little to no chance of that happening without any top flight young players coming in. A first round draft pick might not be a guarantee… when you’re picking 15+. When you’re in the top 3 it’s pretty much going to be at least a triple nowadays if not a homerun.
And for a team that is way better they sure are mired in a horrible slump right now.

Kaleta
He was the only player besides Ryan Miller and Mike Grier who brought their A-game to Atlanta. Kaleta’s play the entire game led to that high hit by Bogosian. You could tell he tried to hit Kaleta extra hard and extra high on that play. Hats off to Kaleta for looking the least rusty of all the Sabres and having had the most time off since his last game. Without him, they for sure would have started this roady with a loss.
