Rick DiPietro celebrates his first win of the season. How's that 12 year contract working so far?

Although the Sabres battled back from down 2-0 to collect a point from the Islanders Saturday night, there was a collective feel of disappointment in the locker room after the game. Sabres fan Andrew Boron pinned the loss squarely on his own shoulders after watching the game without his jersey for the first time in months. "It was a big letdown for me," Boron said of forgetting his jersey. "I feel like I let myself down, and I let the whole team down."

Other players noticed the mental mistake as well, including Derek Roy. "I just wasn't feeling as good as I normally do out there, and I think a big part of that was Borsie's jersey mix-up." Roy then added, "I probably would have buried that shootout chance if he was wearing it." Lindy Ruff said he doesn't know what to do with the embattled fan. "Sometimes you've got to find different ways to reach different people. Maybe a year or two in the doghouse will wake him up." Boron gets a chance to redeem himself when the Sabres travel to Phoenix on Monday.

NHL on TSN panel selects their 2010 All-Stars - TSN
Since there will be no NHL All-Star game this year because of the Olympics, the NHL on TSN panel deliberated over who they would select to take the ice on the first line, if there were an All-Star game in 2010. Ryan Miller is among the starters, but would believe Tyler Myers is as well?

Boron has had a solid season to this point. I’ve been just waiting for him to make a mistake like this.

Chris Butler

I find it amusing that after we spent most of yesterday’s discussion ripping on Butler, Lindy puts him out for over 25 minutes and he picks up an assist. Let’s go after Lydman before Monday night’s game!

What the flip is up with Boron?

Why would he do that? Granted, he held himself accountable, but it doesn’t make things better. I’ve been hoping for quite some time this team can make a run if it can pick up two small pieces to the puzzle. But if this kind of crap continues, why bother? Geez Boron – why don’t you just kick my dog while you’re at it?

Kassian has not had a good year. He does look like a man amongst boys out there though. That kid needs to get out of juniors quick, and into the AHL.

what are the OHL rules for suspensions? by NHL standards that hit would probably cost him 3 games max. It looked a lot worse than it actually was, when he made contact (0:09 in video) he was still on his feet, he left his feet on the followthrough, which is still illegal but not as bad as leaving them before impact. The hit itself was high but not straight to the head or anything. Hard to say much about intentions but I think 3 games max by NHL rules. OHL may be different, but indefinite suspension?

The subsequent fight was pretty lopsided, haha. Definitely get Kassian into the AHL with some bigger guys to fight.

That hit was vicious

Looked worse than it was. Too bad he left his feet, because if not it would have been legal in my mind with the puck in play there. Not to mention, he hit the kid square not from the side or behind. I love how he had his gloves off almost immediately knowing there was someone coming for him and then he absolutely dominated him in the fight. I don’t like to encourage the hit, but I like the fire that this kid shows.
