Daily Links for Monday, Jan. 11
Today I am filled with joy, because even though no Buffalo hockey was played yesterday, we were given the wacky gift of seeing the New England Patriots blown out of the NFL playoffs (Playoffs? Playoffs!?) It was a wacky weekend in the NHL also, so be sure to check before and after the break to catch up on all the shenanigans. In honor of the pro team being in the middle of a four day layoff, today's links are all about the young'uns in the minor, collegiate and Canadian leagues.

i’m not sure why people are so upset and/or confused about the penguins/leafs incident. When they review an apparent non-goal and find out it was a goal, they set back the clock, so whatever happened after the goal gets nullified (another goal, a penalty shot, etc) and the clock is reset. Penalties after the goal, however, cannot be ignored, because the league cannot risk allowing players to injure one another after a questionable goal or no-goal call. Makes perfect sense to me.

Yeah i remember Sabres vs Bruins a few years back. There was like 2:30 left in the 2nd period and Thomas made what looked like an amzing stick save on Briere and play kept going until the end of the period. After the horn the Bruins skated to the locker room and Buffalo stayed on the ice. They called it a goal because he made the “save” but it was inside the net, thus a goal, and Boston had to come back out and replay the 2:30 or so that was left.
It was pretty odd, but the Pens/Leafs one was even more odd because of the events that followed.

Also, the laser-pointer incident is really low class. I hope they catch and prosecute any idiots caught pulling that crap in the future.

agreed. That BS needs to stop and anyone who does it needs to be thrown right out. People of that section need to say something too, not only is it annoying and stupid but it could seriously injure someone.
Imagine if Kip got hit in the eye with it and was lost for any amount of time?? If that god forebid happened to Miller, I would expect Lindy and the rest of the boys to go thru the glass and beat whoever did that to the ground. Send Kaleta after his ass. That’ll stop that BS from happening again.

Yeah, totally classless. I find it hard to believe that no one in the section noticed it.

I agree lassathrax
The rule on the Leafs/Pens incident is clear as day to me. It sucks for the Leafs in this case, but life goes on. Penalties can happen when the puck is not in play, but goals cannot.
I found the Coyotes penalty box gaffe to be hilarious and a great move to keep the puck in play by Roly even when the ’yotes attempted to ice the puck to get a whistle.
