U.S. Olympic Hockey Roster Announced

It isn't a shock we only had one player named to the U.S. Olympic team today, but it would have been nice for Ryan Miller to have at least one Buffalo Sabres teammate. Two of the guys are WNYers: Patrick Kane and Brooks Orpik. Anyway, here's the roster:

Goalies

Ryan Miller Buffalo Sabres;

Tim Thomas, Boston Bruins.

Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings

Forwards

David Backes, St. Louis Blues;

Dustin Brown, Los Angeles Kings;

Ryan Callahan, New York Rangers;

Chris Drury, New York Rangers;

Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks;

Ryan Kesler, Vancouver Canucks;

Phil Kessel, Toronto Maple Leafs;

Jamie Langenbrunner, New Jersey Devils;

Ryan Malone, Tampa Bay Lightning;

Zach Parise, New Jersey Devils;

Joe Pavelski, San Jose Sharks;

Bobby Ryan, Anaheim Ducks;

Paul Stastny, Colorado Avalanche.

Defense

Erik Johnson, St. Louis Blues;

Jack Johnson, Los Angeles Kings;

Mike Komisarek, Toronto Maple Leafs;

Paul Martin, New Jersey Devils;

Brooks Orpik, Pittsburgh Penguins;

Brian Rafalski, Detroit Red Wings;

Ryan Suter, Nashville Predators.

My boy Stastney made it in, woo!

Bills fan? In Colorado? It's more likely than you think.

And my fellow Ithacan Dustin Brown :)

I heard Bill Clement talking the other day about USA’s lack of size, which would be needed to match up with Canada. Because of that, I’m kinda surprised Byfuglien didn’t make it.

Drury? really? He’s slowed down a lot the last few years, and this year he just looks old. I understand the need for some experience but there are definitely better options than Drury, ie/ Gaustad (no homerism)

I think they actually chose one of those better options: Joe Pavelski, and as much as I think Goose should have made the team I think I would have chosen Pavelski over him too.
