Sabres Looking For Puck Mover?
We usually stay away from trade rumors at DBtB but this is more speculation than rumor. David Staples thinks the Edmonton Oilers might be looking to move a puck moving defenseman and he speculates the Sabres might be one of the teams interested in acquiring one.
* The Buffalo Sabres. Plenty of good forwards, not so many good puck movers. Their top scoring d-man last year was Jaro Spacek, with 45 points, but he's now in Montreal.
He is correct the Sabres might need a puck moving defenseman but who would they move to acquire one. The Oilers are looking to bolster their offense and the Sabres might have too many forwards on their roster. Could this be how the Sabres settle the Drew Stafford contract? Could the Oilers have some interest in Clarke MacArthur?
Staples speculates that Tom Gilbert is the player the Oilers are likely to move. He is a guy that has some offensive talent and he is a big guy on the blue line. There is no doubt that he would look good wearing the blue and gold but at what cost?
At this point it is nothing more than informed speculation but a trade isn't out of the question. I still think the Sabres are happy with their forward situation and there really isn't room for another defenseman unless they move one out.

highly unlikely
The Sabres already have Rivet, Lydman, Butler, Sekera, Montador, Tallinder, Weber, Paetsch, Dipenta, Myers and Gragnani.
The only way the Sabres make a trade for a Dman is if someone takes Tallinder off their hands.
yea but there both still young it was nice to bring in experience for a year. Tallinder will be gone at the end of this year if he isnt traded but idk who would go for him. It have to be a 2 for 1 deal I think
Got some work to do before being a playoff team let alone a contender again!
