Morning Links: More on Kane and the Grier Signing

It appears that the Grier signing was $1.2 million for one season.  It's a fair contract but puts the Sabres close to $54 million in salary next season.  Is Golisano opening the check book or is there a trade in the horizon?

Cabbie in Kane case had no valid license : Home: The Buffalo News
I'm not surprised that more came out of this story. I'm sure My opinion is, it happened exactly as described but now that money is involved the case will take a dramatic turn.

2010 World Junior Championship: U.S. cuts roster at national junior camp to 29 - 08/11/2009
Sabres prospect Connor Knapp has made the first round of cuts at the USA Junior camp. He is one of four goalies remaining on the roster.

The NHL's position on the Balsillie bid: 'There is only a front door' - From The Rink
Is there any doubt that Balsille has no morals? At this point it may boil down to money but only time will tell.

NHL.com - News: Major Coyotes creditor tells judge it approves Reinsdorf's bid - 08/11/2009
This is a huge break for the NHL and Glendale. The Reinsdorf bid is favored by both parties as the winning bid and the agreement between him and the biggest creditor might just seal the deal.

I have no inside information

I wasn’t there so I’ll never know the exact truth. It’s been a couple of days now and the negotiating has started. All Kane has to do is pay enough money and the cab driver will say whatever Kane wants him to say. I find it funny that Cambria is throwing the cousin under the bus. I’m sure the cousin was the biggest reason this happened but I’m also sure that Patrick was involved.

Nothing good happens after 2am!

Stop saying "I'm sure"

when you know nothing. This is irresponsible “journalism.”

In my opinion

there is no question that Kane was involved in this and will pay his way out of it. There are plenty of people that will tell you that Kane is not the choir boy we want to believe he is. You can change the words to say in my opinion but it doesn’t change anything.

I agree with DO. Kane was invloved. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. And this is all so true as well:

All Kane has to do is pay enough money and the cab driver will say whatever Kane wants him to say

Kane & cousin were jerks. It’s that simple. And now, Kane will pay to make this go away.

It PROBABLY did happen

I would bet money on it…….but no one, unless they were there or have seen video footage, can say “no if ands or buts” and “for sure.” Man, that’s just stupid, and lawyers would eat you guys up and spit you out in a courtroom.

And, yes, anyone with money and celebrity status will hire a big-time lawyer and get themselves out of jam, or at minimum have the sentence drastically reduced. Hell, you can even pay your way out of a child molestation case if you’re a famous singer.

The bottom line: Kane is the loser in this case, whatever happens. People will never look at him the same way here in Buffalo.

doubt that, to most people they believe the cab driver was lying, Buffalo fans have a hard time not cheering for the home town hero and i am just as bad. I still love Kane’s ability and playing style, and when he grows up in a few years he will look back and be embarrassed

Well, good thing I’m not in the courtroom then.
