WGR 550 SportsRadio - Home of the Buffalo Sabres - Matt Ellis Signs One-Year Deal With Sabres
Another player signed but still no big splash. I know Darcy is just waiting to pull the trigger on something.

Not a terrible resigning, he played well when he was in the lineup.

Agreed. Not a terrible signing at all. Not a bad depth guy. But, if he has to play a significant role on your team, you’re in trouble. I’d wager he’s the insurance policy in case (or because) Gerbe and/or Kennedy aren’t ready for coffee. Or, it could tell me that the rumor mongering I hear about Stafford being trade bait might have some bite.

I am happy
Coolman hit it right on the head. Ellis was my favorite player last year. Played anywhere you asked and gave you everything he had. Not the most talented guy, but for the money you can’t go wrong. I believe it was Lindy that said it or maybe it was Nolan “Hard work can cover alot of mistakes”. Besides the fact he played in Detroit, where expectations are a little higher. Not like the “I’ll play hard every third shift” like most of our forwards. We’ll see what else Darcy has up his sleeve. Not expecting a lot.

Depth defenseman, depth forward, why WOULD you expect anything else? Decent signing but once again leaves me feeling “meh”.
