Buffalo Sabres Announce 2009-2010 Schedule

Once again there are plenty of highlights on the Buffalo Sabres schedule this season.  Jaroslav Spacek and the Montreal Canadiens come to Buffalo to open the season on October 3.  The biggest highlights to start are the Sabres playing five of the first six at home, they close the season with five of six on the road.  The West Coast trip will once again be in January this season.

There are some interesting twists in the schedule for the Sabres.  They will compete head-to-head with the Buffalo Bills on two separate occasions.  They play back-to-back games on 18 different occasions and they play 19 games at home and 24 games on the road after January 1.  For the second consecutive season the Sabres will meet the Detroit Red Wings twice, they also meet the San Jose Sharks twice this season.

We'll start with the back-to-back games.  The Sabres will play back-to-back games on 18 different occasions and the second game will be on the road 12 times.  Buffalo will be the home team in both games four times and they play both games on the road three times.

The Sabres will play a total of 22 home games and 17 road games in 2009 and they will play 19 home games and 24 road games in 2010.   Below is the month-by-month breakdown of the Sabres schedule.

Saturday is traditionally a popular day for the Sabres to play and this season is know different. They play a total of 23 games on Saturday nights this season. Below is a day-by-day breakdown... 

The schedule makers didn't do the Sabres ticket sellers any justice when they scheduled a home game against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday December 3.  That is the same day that the Buffalo Bills will host the New York Jets at Rogers Centre in Toronto.  The Sabres will also go head-to-head with Monday night Football four times near the end of the football season.

At first glance it looks like a fairly difficult schedule for the Sabres this season.  They will have to get off to a pretty good start because the second half of the season is difficult with plenty of games on the road.
