Ryan Miller is the only Buffalo Sabres player that was invited to the United States Olympic orientation camp in August. I'm mildly surprised that Paul Gaustad and Jason Pominville were not invited to the camp. I thought they were both a long shot to make the team but thought they would at least be invited to camp.

Why would Pominville be invited to the US camp? I thought he was born in Montreal? Did he change his citizenship?

Pominville can be considered for both teams because he has dual citizenship.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I forget the logistics

He does have dual citizenship but I forget exactly how. I think he was born in Green Bay and lived in Montreal his whole life. He played for the United States in the World Championships two years ago.

I don’t think he’ll be considered or either team after the year he had… I know I know, he had 60+ points, and he was under the weight of a big contract like Vanek was two years ago. He has the potential for more and everyone expects him to reach for it this year.
