NHL Draft: Sabres select Mark Adams and Connor Knapp

The Buffalo Sabres remained in their picks through the first six rounds of the draft and they selected Mark Adams (Defense - Malden Catholic MA) and Connor Knapp (Goalie - Miami, OH) in the fifth and sixth round respectively.  I'd be lying if I said that I know a lot about these players but time will tell if they can become NHL-caliber players.

Mark Adams - Defense, Malden Catholic (USHS)

Mark Adams is a defenseman playing High School Hockey in Massachusetts and is headed to Providence to play his College Hockey.  I didn't know anything about him so I asked Bakes at SabresProspects.com for some help.  He said "He is a good defenseman that gets involved offensively".  "He is a strong two-way player" he added.

Connor Knapp - Goalie, Miami OH (CCHA-NCAA)

Knapp is another college goalie that put up good numbers in his freshman season.  He posted a 2.05 Goals Against Average with a .906 save percentage in 22 games.  He also posted two shutouts for the RedHawks.  Knapp is tall and lanky much like Ryan Miller but with more weight.  He stands at 6'5" and 215 pounds.  He is still a couple years away from having an opportunity to sign with the Sabres but seems to have good potential.

Sabres picks

As a Sabres’ fan from day one, it is crazy wonderful to see former Sabre’s children being signed by the Sabres. And, DO, so jealous of you being there.
