This would be great news for the Sabres if they can get something done. Is this the beginning of something bigger. Are the Sabres planning on making a trade at the draft? They don't have very much money to spend on salaries next season which leads me to believe that something is up.

Letting Spacek go would be a mistake IMO. He provides equal offense to Bouwmeester at a little more than half the price. He’s well liked, he works hard, and he has a booming shot that would be completely missing if he were to leave. unless there is a comparable defenseman on the market, which I’m not sure there is, it would be wise of the Sabres to offer him a 2 year deal at about the same salary or slightly more.
