World Championships Quarterfinals Begin Today

As I've mentioned here before...the World Championships are all we have to grasp to as Sabres fans. There are still eight teams alive in the NHL Playoffs but the Sabres have been off since the beginning of April. We all know that Lindy Ruff is coaching Team Canada and several players were representing their countries.

The Sabres were eliminated from playoff contention before they even began and some Sabres players suffered that same fate in the World Championships. Thomas Vanek (Austria) Jochen Hecht (Germany), Phillip Gogulla (Germany) and Andrej Sekera (Slovakia) were all eliminated before the Quarterfinals began this morning.

Drew Stafford is still alive with the Unites States. They play at 2:15 this afternoon against Finland. You should be ale to watch the game online at this site. Canada (Lindy Ruff and Derek Roy) will play their Quarterfinal game on Thursday against Latvia at 10:15am.
