Schumer and Gillibrand warn NHL over potential Coyotes move to S. Ontario
"The Buffalo Sabres are synonymous with Western New York," said Senator Gillibrand. "Moving a new team to Southern Ontario would not only hurt the Sabres, but would be detrimental to Western New York's economy and the devoted Buffalo Sabres fans who are so loyal to their beloved team. The Sabres are crucial to Western New York's way of life. I am committed to working with Senator Schumer to do everything we can to keep the Sabres successful right here in Buffalo."

I'm not so sure
I still think the Sabres will be fine. Do we really know how much a team in Hamilton will affect the team? I think most of the Canadians that come across the border are there to see hockey and I think they will still come see hockey. They aren’t really Sabres fans anyway.

I was thinking the same things but it does make sense that some of season ticket base is from Southern Ontario and that would be affected by a closer hometown team. Another question would be how would ticket prices for a Southern Ontario team affect the Sabres. If they charge more than the Sabres but less than the Leafs would that still entice Leafs fans to come across the border to catch games.
