  • The Canes have won 14 straight games at home.
  • The Sabres lost the last meeting in Carolina 2-1 with Patrick Lalime in goal.
  • Nathan Paetsch will be in the lineup as a forward tonight because Max Afinogenov is sick. {Buffalo News}

Absolutely

Good to see the desperation carry over from yesterday’s third.

Also good to see Pommer hit on a shot that normally this season he fires over the net.

The problem was having Lalime in goal

D.O.
www.diebytheblade.com - An SB nation destination for Sabres fans everywhere

by David Oleksy on Apr 9, 2009 8:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Lalime played some good games in goal and they just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net

by Zachary Zielonka on Apr 9, 2009 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah, i recall several 2-1 games they lost with him in goal

by Fucilli5 on Apr 9, 2009 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions

go back and watch the games though…they completely changed their style of play in those games. They never allowed a rebound because all five skaters were converging on the net for defense. They had no transition to set up the offense.

D.O.
www.diebytheblade.com - An SB nation destination for Sabres fans everywhere

by David Oleksy on Apr 9, 2009 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I think more than anything they had no confidence. Even players like Roy who annoy us with risk-taking weren’t taking chances to create offense.

http://hockey-sense.today.com A blog dedicated to the greatest sport in the universe.

by DamageInc95 on Apr 9, 2009 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions

i do believe you’re probably right…staying home to help him out…its unfortunate they felt they had to do that instead of staying aggressive and trying to score some more

by Fucilli5 on Apr 9, 2009 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah…its amazing…you can see the urgency…but you couldn’t two weeks ago…even though the situation was the same really

by Fucilli5 on Apr 9, 2009 8:47 PM EDT reply actions

To me it seems as though the urgency has wavered back and forth. This team needs more grit and leadership – that’ll keep the urgency level up.
