Game Day Preview: San Jose Sharks vs. Buffalo Sabres
The San Jose Sharks come into Buffalo in the middle of five game east-coast road trip. They have gone 1-0-2 in the first three games, only beating Boston on Tuesday night. The Sabres are coming off back-to-back losses to the Senators in which on Wednesday they completely stunk up the joint, going 1-12 on the powerplay on route to a 3-1 loss. This will be the only matchup for the Sabres against the Sharks this season, unless both teams make the Stanley Cup Finals. The Sabres are 11-1 all time against the San Jose Sharks at home, the only loss coming in 2005.
This will be the first game for Craig Rivet after being traded from the Sharks in the off season. Rivet played 91 games with the Sharks in a season and a half. He had six goals and 37 assists during his time in San Jose.
The Sabres are in the 8th spot in the conference thanks to the Panthers win last night. They are tied with the Panthers at 62 points with 27 games left. According to playoffstatus.com, the Sabres have a 72% chance of making the playoffs, not including the games from last night. We "control our destiny" until the 5th position in the conference and can go as high as 4th. The Sabres desperately need this win tonight if for nothing more than gaining confidence heading into this stretch of games.

Definately need this win – and I don’t see it happening. I think the Sharks want another win on this road trip and will come out blazing tonight. If we look anything like we did on Wednesday we’re in serious trouble.
I’d like to see them come out and establish a good forcheck and good D.

Its one of those things, had they thought of training these guys before the game on Wednesday it may have made a difference.

As a bandwagon Sabres fan, I’m up for that – though I would of course root for my hometown team, the Sharks. Don’t know about direct flights from the Bay Area, but the prices for each arena are pretty comparable. If it’s not this season, I hope I live to see that scenario.

oh yea?
stop on out – only thing is flying in the Winter sucks ass. if it works out a later march game would be in your best interest. or anything prior to december.
but we’re a very friendly community – sometimes we get belligerent – but since your a non-division non-conference opponent you won’t have any issues.
we’re actually a bunch of nice people that want to have a good time – because its so cold round here
