SPG Game
I quickly put up a post before the first game that explained the SPG Game. Unfortunately I did not do a very good job of explaining it. I will try to do a better job of explaining the game and the objective in this post. As always , if there are any questions send me an e-mail or ask in the comments.
What is the SPG Game?
"SPG" is an acronym for "Shot", "Penalty" and "Goal". The object of the game is to predict which Buffalo Sabres player will have the first shot, penalty and goal for each period.
How Does it Work?
You receive one point for every correct prediction you make. This gives you a potential for nine points in a regulation game, 12 points in an overtime game and 14 points in a shootout.
How Do I Sign Up?
The SPG Game is free to play with a special thanks to Gary Perez for building the platform that drives these statistics. You can sign up by visiting this page and creating account. After creating account you will have to visit the game page to make your selections.
Prizes?
There will be prizes available for the winner of each month as well as a grand prize winner at the conclusion of the regular season. The winner of the grand prize at the end of the season will win a Buffalo Sabres jersey. We will start out small by giving away a Buffalo Sabres poster to the winner of the October SPG Game.
Congrats to JSCoope on winning the prize for November. I will be contacting you soon to get mailing information.
Mobile Site
Remember that you can visit http://mobile.diebytheblade.com to visit the mobile site and you can comment from wherever you watch the game. Hope to see you here.

TV on versus on mute, with WGR550 and RJ.
On an unrelated note, Canada’s anthem seems wimpy compare to the USA’s.

No way
O Canada is a fantastic anthem, and gives me chills when I hear it. Honestly, I think America’s anthem is pretty weak.

They have a great anthem, better than ours, and it pains me to say it. I get chills just thinking of the Edm crowd singing it in that Carolina game…

Nah, didn’t mean it like that. I mean our anthem is all about bombs, rockets, war, etc. There’s is about peace and standing guard and all that good stuff.

No, our anthem is about perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds in a war to preserve the American way of life and what this country stands for. What could be more empowering than an anthem about a people fighting to free themselves from a tyrannical government that viewed them as being beneath the average Englishman because they were born in the Americas?
by kellyn on Dec 7, 2009 9:48 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Now way! ‘Oh Canada’ is just a lame retooling of ‘God Save the King/Queen’ or whatever the heck the British national anthem is, just with the word Canada as a substituted for the word King or Queen. At least ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ is original with an interesting story behind it, like having been written by a captive American aboard an English ship in the Chesapeake Bay while the Brits bombarded the American port city of Baltimore. The song is all about American perseverance in the face British oppression and how we drop-kicked their colonizing butts out of our country not once but twice within the space of thirty years. Fight the power, man!

Oddly enough, I ask myself that question the idiots at MSG show a graphic displaying the Rangers record both with Sean Avery in the line-up and without him. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or what, but the Rangers record is inexplicably better with Avery in the line-up than when he isn’t.. How bizarre is that?
