All I want for Christmas is Derek Roy out of the Blue and Gold
Please please please can we trade this moron?? I have yet to see him do anything with the puck besides turn it over this year. People say that Max put blinders on when he had possession of the puck, well Derek Roy puts blinders on when he doesn't have the puck. That's right, this guy has no hockey sense whatsoever!! I love the Sabres more than anything, but it's like a knife being tapped further and further into my heart every time I see a should-be goal not occur due to the fact that Derek Roy is off in nowhere land avoiding a check. Why does Lindy love this guy so much? Pominville you and Roy need to retreat to a warm island together with no ice so you can't torture myself and my good buffalonian fans any longer.
I would trade ROy and Pominville to any team in a heartbeat for a player like Steve Bernier.
Put them on the 4th line, trade 'em, hell take them out back and shoot them! I don't care. I just can't take watching these little nats roam about mindlessly.

Wow
Somebody that hates losing to Ottawa more than I do? Seems like it…
A little harsh. Though I don’t think Roy is really living up to his potential (and that penalty call against him tonight…REALLY???), nor is Vanek, nor is Pomenville, I think they’re all great players that just haven’t completely woken up this season.
What I do think is that while we have depth in team scoring (kinda sad that Kaleta couldn’t score in his 3rd straight), it creates an opportunity for the team to be carried into the playoffs by the third and fourth lines, and then maybe, just maybe, in April and May our top guys might start showing up.
We do still lead the division. With that said, I think Miller gets a rest while Lalime battles the lackluster Leafs and then takes on the Pens. If we can come out of this weekend on top, it shows we are a contender, whether or not Roy is producing.

I know theres no reason to panic and we’ve still got the division lead… hell we should be able to win the division with the team we’ve got. However that being said, there is not a chance in hell that they beat the sens or bruins in a 7 game series with the kind of soft play that they usually exert against these teams. When the sabres get pressed at their own blue line, they commit turnovers on a regular basis. Maybe it’s not trading guys, maybe it’s Lindy making a different game plan to play against these teams. But if a team can clip the sabres wings during the breakout, they’ll beat the sabres 3 of 4. Would be worse but we’ve got Miller between the pipes! Thank the lord!

Listen, I want this team to be as good as it possibly can via game strategy, or even through trades. I have been disgusted all year with Roy and Pominville. They will fail against a physical team that presses at the opponents goal line durring breakouts. They really are just a couple of nats, when unpressured they’ll throw pucks towards the net but never really create quality opportunities.
The only sucessful breakout the sabres consistently had going for them was Myers skating it up himself. I’m not sure if anyone would even want to trade for Roy but I personally would rather have Nathan Gerbe start for him.

Roy is the points leader on the team. I don’t really think it’s a good idea to bench a guy like that for an AHL player. While I agree that he (like all top 6 forwards except Mac) is not producing at the level we expect him to, I think he’s playing the best hockey of his career in the defensive zone. He also seems, to me at least, to be bringing a more consistent effort each night. Finally, he’s one of our better faceoff men without Gaustad here, drawing at over 50%.
I understand that you’re frustrated with him this year, but Steve Bernier? You did watch him when he was on our team, right? Just take a deep breath and remind yourself that we’re still in first place. I’d much rather be a top 4 seed and have nobody on the team with more than 70 points than miss the playoffs and have Roy be a point per game man and Vanek have 40 goals.

DUDE
He scored a goal in his first game here! And fought someone too I think! Or maybe just checked them.
Plus he’s dreamy.

Fine fine, we’ll also throw in Stempniak.
But we want a 4th round pick back.

You're gonna have to throw in something more valuable.
Maybe a couple of maple dips from Timmy’s.

who would you like to see in return?
no bs trades either. Who are legit guys that we could land for these two? I really like Roy but hes has alot of value. Im sure Darcy wont part with Roy unless the trade is a steal. That being said I would love to explore options for Pommer. Just think he has maxed out and we could get something better in return from someone looking for some offense. Any names?

Honestly, I think a lot of the lack of production from our top 6 is based on the system. Look at the minutes that most top 6 forwards play, then look at out top 6. They’re just not on the ice as much as others, if they were im pretty confident Roy, Connolly and Vanek would all be point per gamers.

The reason ice time is so even through all our forwards is that no one forward is THAT much better that the next. Face it were are a team with the best fourth line in the NHL but no legit #1 line. Until that changes we have to roll 4 lines.
