so is anyone watching this game?

I’m just tuning in now.

WTF happened to our celebrated penalty kill in the first?

by HarryNeale'sGarden on Dec 12, 2009 8:01 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Both were perfect plays by the Rangers.

A great pass on the first and a shot by Gaborik that I’m not sure anyone could have stopped.

after seeing lalime play last night, kinda disappointed that he’s not playing tonight, kinda like going back to your 2 year girlfriend in bed after hooking up with a fine hooker in vegas

Im still speechless at the fact Kaleta had a breakway shorty and cleanly beat Lundqvist, of all people.

is it me or this game boring?

by manic hispanic on Dec 12, 2009 9:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I realize we’re 15-0-0 when leading going into the 3rd, with every win in regulation.

But if we could stop these third periods that always look like 20-minute penalty kills, I might have a few less heart attacks.

I have it on, but I have been fading in and out. I dont know if thats cos its boring or cos I had 2 hours sleep in the last 56 hours.

i’ve been in and out of this game, seems like a defensive kind of game, what do the writers think?

by manic hispanic on Dec 12, 2009 9:11 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

As I said in the Preview thread this morning: a good, old-fashioned smart road win.

1 goal off on the score, 3-2 instead of 3-1

A quick question to the Rangers fans...

When Sabres-Rangers games are in Buffalo, do you get the Sabres between periods show and Rob Ray as the on-ice color commentator?

i highly doubt it

There are a handful of games this year that they’re using the local feed for, all in NYC. That’s why it was like that today. It’s to save money.

If they really wanted to save money...

…they’d be using the Sabres’ between periods show and Rob Ray when the games are in Buffalo. Unless they are, the argument that this is a money saving measure simply isn’t credible.

Ummm, MSG owns the Rangers.

They don’t give a shit about the Sabres. MSG is going to show the MSG show no matter what.

And I can understand that...

However what I object to is the demonstrably false claim that using only one crew for between periods broadcasts and eliminating one of the on-ice broadcasters is a money-saving measure when it is not done for games in Buffalo. I’d rather have MSG be honest about their reasoning…that they are willing to demonstrate in no uncertain means that the Buffalo half of their broadcast will never be given equal treatment and that the Sabres’ fans should consider themselves fortunate that they permit them to see any hockey at all so they should sit down, shut up and get to the back of the bus. It is the same supremacist attitude upstaters have been getting from downstaters for over three centuries and it is not ever going to change.

Sam Rosen, Mike Emrick, and the buffoons who do Islanders hockey all suck. I may be in the minority, but I don’t really care for any of ’em.

It’s funny how the greater NYC area is hailed as a hockey hotbed when frankly noone in the NYC area, sans the Rags in the rare occasion when they’re good, actually care about ’em.

You’re misunderstanding the situation. It’s not merely a cost-saving measure for the MSG Network, it’s a cost-saving measure for the SABRES. It costs money to produce an intermission show with Sylvester, Roby, and Ray. Hell, it costs money to produce any intermission show whatsoever, even the ones Sylvester hosts himself.

We’re a small-market team with limited financial resources. I’m more than willing to accept them cutting some corners where they can with the OFF-ICE product so the on-ice counterpart doesn’t have to scrimp. Why pay MSG to produce a second intermission show when they can just sling the Rags feed up to us? I’m not complaining; I barely watch intermission anyway.

They would probably do it with more road broadcasts if they could, but TV networks don’t work that way because of the rights fees.

I think that last PK might have been the best pure zone penalty kill I’ve ever seen in my life.

They were in our zone for about 95 consecutive seconds, and never even got a halfway-decent shot off, let alone a scoring chance.
