That's disrespect yo

All that being said, I think the Bruins can get healthy, regroup, and actually win the Northeast Division, which is the weakest in hockey with no elite teams. Buffalo will be the biggest challenge, and the Bruins have to be careful the Sabres don't build too big of a lead.

That was from the latest Buccigross mailbag at espn.com.  Can't believe he thinks the Northeast is worse than the Southeast.  They should put this up in the locker room.

I don’t agree with his logic but at least it’s consistent.

Every other division has at least one team considered an elite, Stanley Cup contender. Some have two. We have zero.

Again, I don’t agree with it, but at least it’s consistent.

Washington looks anything but elite – especially without Ovie.

Yeah, once I thought about it, it made sense to me.

Like you said – I don’t agree with it, but I understand where he’s coming from.

Who on earth is considered a real contender in the Northwest?

Unless you are one of the few non-Avs fans who are actually paying attention to them and consider them great.

Bills fan? In Colorado? It's more likely than you think.

He might be on to something

Even if we consider the Sabres an elite team (I’m not ready to do that yet), the rest of the division is not very good. I would not be surprised to see five teams from the Atlantic make it this season.

I would be. I seriously doubt the Islanders make the playoffs and I’m not exactly sold on the Rangers either. Once Gaborik sustains is annual season ending injury I think they’ll fall apart.

On the other hand, I expect the Bruins to get it together and make it to the postseason. In addition I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ottawa or Montreal sneak into the last spot.

In the end, I think the Southeast is the weakest. I expect the Northeast to get 2-3, the Atlantic to get 3-4, and the Southeast to get 1.

Not that it means anything, but NHL.com had a poll asking which division was strongest from top to bottom. It shook out like this:

Atlantic – 28.7% (no surprise there)

Northwest – 19.26%

Central – 17.52%

Pacific – 16.75%

Northeast – 13.08%

Southeast – 4.7%

Again, not a perfect indicator by any standard – would be better if people actually ranked the divisions rather then just choosing which one they thought was best, also this doesn’t address the “elite” team theory – but even so. Seems like the Northeast has the Southeast beat.

Am I the only one....

who doesn’t give a crap?

Disrespect us – who cares? All I want to do is keep winning games and see what happens in the playoffs (?!!??!).

Teams come from no where to contenders every year – so what if we play in a weaker division – that means we should be fresher come playoff time.

I don’t care either – I just happen to think he’s wrong. I don’t think our division is all that weak, and we haven’t played too many divisional games yet anyway.

this is interestingg..

I agree that it’s kinda BS but then again i agree with J2.
These idiots always say bad things about the sabres and when they really start talking bad about us is when we’re our best.
after the lockout, last year sort of, this year.
then when we were bad no one said anything and we were bad.

They had a chip on their soldier when they made their runs w/ Briere and Drury, so maybe it will come back.

sorry for double post lol

and i think if we actually played the bruins we’d beat them straight up.
i don’t think they’d match our speed and miller at all.
i bet myers would play his heart out though.

I’d rather have teams “disrespecting” us than the players reading all of the praise and letting it get to their heads.

And by “teams”, I meant teams, media, other players, etc.

couldn’t agree more, Afino

But not quite as disrespectful...

…as what Brett Hull said today during his HoF induction when asked about the Cup winning “goal” in Game 6 of the ’99 Cup Finals against Buffalo.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=505325

“I don’t need to convince anybody. They’re on video and DVD.”

That’s not just disrespectful. That’s actively flaunting that you won a Cup by violating the rules. That’s placing yourself above the game.

Hull was an exceptionally skilled player and more than worthy of induction in the Hall of Fame but he is no class act…not in the least.
