The Buffalo Sabres announced they have recalled Jhonas Enroth from the Portland Pirates.  The announcement came via the Sabres official Twitter account.

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled Jhonas Enroth... check sabres.com shortly for more information

There is plenty of speculation as to why the move was necessary.  Some people think that Lalime may have re-injured his groin, there is also speculation that either Miller or Lalime might have the flu.  There is also some speculation the Sabres will waive Patrick Lalime

I think it would be safe to bet Patrick Lalime is either injured or suffering from the flu.  There was no good reason for Ryan Miller to play on Saturday and the logical explanation would be an injury or illness.

I will update this post when more info becomes available.

[Update by David Oleksy, 11/04/09 10:19 AM EST ] - This is from WGR 550

A Swedish website is reporting that Enroth is coming up to join the Sabres for the second time in his career in order spell Patrick Lalime who is battling groin trouble.

The Buffalo Sabres have officially reported it was a groin injury that will sideline Lalime. Lindy Ruff stated that if Lalime is not ready by the weekend, Enroth would likely make his season debut.

he’s also battling stopping goals and winning games trouble.

So is Enroth

he has not been good for the Pirates so far this season. Despite his struggles, I hope he gets into a game while he is here.

I would like to see what he does. The Sabs need to have legitimate options to back up Miller and not have him play the entire regular season.

Not that I think he’ll be better than Lalime because seems to be hes struggling this year… But I would like to see what our young guy can do up here. Hope he gets a game.

Wouldnt mind if the speculation that we are waiving Lalime was true :-) hes hard to watch…

Thanks for jinxing us David. Only a few hrs after you declare “Sabres should be healthy,” our players start dropping like flies. Forget the “Madden Curse,” I am more worried about the “Oleksy Curse.”

Tongue in cheek of course.

hahaha

If it’s Lalime it’s okay though. Most of us don’t think he is very good anyway.

Yay! Enroth!

Honestly, I think the team will work harder in front of a young budding netminder with tons of potential than a semi-washed up vet… I want to see how the kid does up with the pros. I liken the situation to the Caps having Varmalov behind Huet last season, but this would be a much better position because Miller is the unquestioned starter.
