- Matt Stajan has a three game point streak with two goals and two assists in the three games.
- Tyler Myers had three assists on Saturday, giving him four in his last two games.
- Both teams are riding a two game winning streak into tonight's contest.
- The Maple Leafs have only scored the first goal in a game four times this season. They are 2-0-2 in those four games.
- The Sabres were obviously better than the Leafs in October but both teams have earned 13 points in 12 games during the month of November.

SPG Game
I quickly put up a post before the first game that explained the SPG Game. Unfortunately I did not do a very good job of explaining it. I will try to do a better job of explaining the game and the objective in this post. As always , if there are any questions send me an e-mail or ask in the comments.
What is the SPG Game?
"SPG" is an acronym for "Shot", "Penalty" and "Goal". The object of the game is to predict which Buffalo Sabres player will have the first shot, penalty and goal for each period.
How Does it Work?
You receive one point for every correct prediction you make. This gives you a potential for nine points in a regulation game, 12 points in an overtime game and 14 points in a shootout.
How Do I Sign Up?
The SPG Game is free to play with a special thanks to Gary Perez for building the platform that drives these statistics. You can sign up by visiting this page and creating account. After creating account you will have to visit the game page to make your selections.
Prizes?
There will be prizes available for the winner of each month as well as a grand prize winner at the conclusion of the regular season. The winner of the grand prize at the end of the season will win a Buffalo Sabres jersey. We will start out small by giving away a Buffalo Sabres poster to the winner of the October SPG Game.
Congrats to zaniac75 on winning the October prize of a Buffalo Sabres poster. I finally sent it out this week.

Lines seem constant so far. It may seem “off” because of the amount of time certain players have been stuck out there because of Toronto pressure.

by Rafal Ladysz on Nov 30, 2009 7:41 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Could have been a better period.
D.O is right, without that power play early, don’t know if they would have had the same momentum.
Predictably, Toronto is winning battles and forechecking. Sabres had one shift of sustained pressure and that’s it.

did we play bad that period or just the typical lazy play they do far too often?

I really think we’re up against a feisty team today.
by jj24 on Nov 30, 2009 7:45 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Today is a “cycle the puck” kind of game for our offense. Our D is going to have to take lots of shots(wrist shots especially), or make primary assists because they’re putting pressure on the puck and collapsing. I’m happy with our strategy of keeping them out of the slot. They can take shots from angles all night because Miller is feeling it, again.

Well...
both teams had some chances but I would say the Leafs owned that period. Miller is the reason the game is the way it is. Can they hang on for another 20 minutes?

We need to pull a Ryan Fitzpatick: go for the juggular while they’re leaving pressing.

Good TV coverage
with mini-cams in the net, penalty box, overhead……you name it……and the announcers have been really, really complimentary regarding Miller, which is great to hear (because he deserves it!)

Without miller this game would be a disaster.

RE: punishment for Ovechkin
Bettman decides ovie’d bum knee is punishment enough for him and decides not to suspend. Next person to be outraged at this gets a hatchet chop from Ballard.
by Heilander on Nov 30, 2009 8:45 PM EST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
I mean, it would sort of be overkill to suspend the guy for 3 games if he’s already going to miss a few weeks.

Hoping offense looks better this period. Hopefully miller is letting the guys know he doesn’t like having to work that hard.
by Heilander on Nov 30, 2009 8:49 PM EST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
The offense just needs one odd man rush to put this away. Defense needs to keep the slot clogged and tight point coverage.

We have really been clearing out the front of the net extremely well so far this season. It helps that Miller’s barely been giving up any rebounds, but the team as a whole is really clearing the front of the net like champs.
