SPG Game

I quickly put up a post before the first game that explained the SPG Game.  Unfortunately I did not do a very good job of explaining it.  I will try to do a better job of explaining the game and the objective in this post.  As always , if there are any questions send me an e-mail or ask in the comments.

What is the SPG Game?

"SPG" is an acronym for "Shot", "Penalty" and "Goal".  The object of the game is to predict which Buffalo Sabres player will have the first shot, penalty and goal for each period.

How Does it Work?

You receive one point for every correct prediction you make.  This gives you a potential for nine points in a regulation game, 12 points in an overtime game and 14 points in a shootout.

How Do I Sign Up?

The SPG Game is free to play with a special thanks to Gary Perez for building the platform that drives these statistics.  You can sign up by visiting this page and creating account.  After creating account you will have to visit the game page to make your selections.

Prizes?

There will be prizes available for the winner of each month as well as a grand prize winner at the conclusion of the regular season.  The winner of the grand prize at the end of the season will win a Buffalo Sabres jersey.  We will start out small by giving away a Buffalo Sabres poster to the winner of the October SPG Game.

Congrats to zaniac75 on winning the October prize of a Buffalo Sabres poster.  I finally sent it out this week.

Remember that you can visit http://mobile.diebytheblade.com to visit the mobile site and you can comment from wherever you watch the game.  Hope to see you here.

I have a great feeling about Miller(duh). We need to control the puck in their end today. Less crash, more skill this time.

Toronto’s doing a good job of collapsing. Our D-men are going to have to get shots/deflections on goal this game.

he could have made some saves to increase it what was ballard thinking that idiot

by Rafal Ladysz on Nov 30, 2009 7:41 PM EST reply actions

Could have been a better period.

D.O is right, without that power play early, don’t know if they would have had the same momentum.

Predictably, Toronto is winning battles and forechecking. Sabres had one shift of sustained pressure and that’s it.

by Afino on Nov 30, 2009 7:42 PM EST reply actions

did we play bad that period or just the typical lazy play they do far too often?

by bflo on Nov 30, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

Today is a “cycle the puck” kind of game for our offense. Our D is going to have to take lots of shots(wrist shots especially), or make primary assists because they’re putting pressure on the puck and collapsing. I’m happy with our strategy of keeping them out of the slot. They can take shots from angles all night because Miller is feeling it, again.

Roster limit? I don’t know; that’s just a guess. Keep in mind Ruff likes Paetsch though.

by krytime on Nov 30, 2009 8:29 PM EST up reply actions

Paestch

the Sabres no longer think of him as a defenseman. They consider him both. They have four full lines tonight, Paetsch will play zero shifts on defense.

Well...

both teams had some chances but I would say the Leafs owned that period. Miller is the reason the game is the way it is. Can they hang on for another 20 minutes?

Good TV coverage

with mini-cams in the net, penalty box, overhead……you name it……and the announcers have been really, really complimentary regarding Miller, which is great to hear (because he deserves it!)
