- Tyler Myers had three assists on Saturday, giving him four in his last two games.
- Both teams are riding a two game winning streak into tonight's contest.
- The Maple Leafs have only scored the first goal in a game four times this season. They are 2-0-2 in those four games.

SPG Game
I quickly put up a post before the first game that explained the SPG Game. Unfortunately I did not do a very good job of explaining it. I will try to do a better job of explaining the game and the objective in this post. As always , if there are any questions send me an e-mail or ask in the comments.
What is the SPG Game?
"SPG" is an acronym for "Shot", "Penalty" and "Goal". The object of the game is to predict which Buffalo Sabres player will have the first shot, penalty and goal for each period.
How Does it Work?
You receive one point for every correct prediction you make. This gives you a potential for nine points in a regulation game, 12 points in an overtime game and 14 points in a shootout.
How Do I Sign Up?
The SPG Game is free to play with a special thanks to Gary Perez for building the platform that drives these statistics. You can sign up by visiting this page and creating account. After creating account you will have to visit the game page to make your selections.
Prizes?
There will be prizes available for the winner of each month as well as a grand prize winner at the conclusion of the regular season. The winner of the grand prize at the end of the season will win a Buffalo Sabres jersey. We will start out small by giving away a Buffalo Sabres poster to the winner of the October SPG Game.
Congrats to zaniac75 on winning the October prize of a Buffalo Sabres poster. I finally sent it out this week.

Remember that you can visit http://mobile.diebytheblade.com to visit the mobile site and you can comment from wherever you watch the game. Hope to see you here.

Toronto’s doing a good job of collapsing. Our D-men are going to have to get shots/deflections on goal this game.

I think the stigma of hitting your own goalie in the head and being an idiot is punishment enough.
(I see the joke though)
Yeah I would think so
would have been hilarious if one of the other players would have dropped the gloves with Ballard to protect their goalie.

did we play bad that period or just the typical lazy play they do far too often?
"I don't know how to explain it but we seem to find eachother on the ice and make things happen... Yeah. Pass, shoot, score... Yeah. Pass.. Shoot.. And score."
Today is a “cycle the puck” kind of game for our offense. Our D is going to have to take lots of shots(wrist shots especially), or make primary assists because they’re putting pressure on the puck and collapsing. I’m happy with our strategy of keeping them out of the slot. They can take shots from angles all night because Miller is feeling it, again.
Ovechkin to finally get suspended?
Knee on knee’s Tim Gleason. They both get hurt.
I bet Gleason gets suspended for getting in Ovie’s way.
i like ovechkin...
but he does need to finally be suspended. The guy gets away with too much and eventually someone is going to get seriously hurt. Didnt see the play so im speculating its his fault but stil…
"I don't know how to explain it but we seem to find eachother on the ice and make things happen... Yeah. Pass, shoot, score... Yeah. Pass.. Shoot.. And score."
Blatant knee on knee. Ovie got 5 and the game, and had to be helped off the ice. Gleason was hurt too.
He'll be suspended
the suspension will be for the amount of games he misses with injury.

Can someone tell me why we’re dressing 7 defensemen instead of calling somebody up for tonight? I’ve been out of the loop for the holiday.
We’re basically playing with 3.5 lines and moving Paetsch around.
by HarryNeale'sGarden on Nov 30, 2009 8:27 PM EST up reply actions
I get where you’re coming from. However, I think Paetsch needs ice time because, at some point, he’s going to be needs on D, too. This keeps his chemsitry up with the boys.

Paestch
the Sabres no longer think of him as a defenseman. They consider him both. They have four full lines tonight, Paetsch will play zero shifts on defense.

with mini-cams in the net, penalty box, overhead……you name it……and the announcers have been really, really complimentary regarding Miller, which is great to hear (because he deserves it!)

RE: punishment for Ovechkin
Bettman decides ovie’d bum knee is punishment enough for him and decides not to suspend. Next person to be outraged at this gets a hatchet chop from Ballard.
