Sabres Prospects: Top 25 Weekly Recap
The Buffalo Sabres have been struggling as of late so with a couple of days off, let's take a look at what some of the future Sabres have done this past week. It's always fun to look at the ups and downs the youngsters have at every level whether that be the NHL, AHL, Junior or NCAA.
It seems that every week we are talking about Luke Adam and Corey Tropp and they both remain at the top of their respective squads point leaders but they have both cooled off considerably. The story this week has been the resurgence of the Portland Pirates, the play of Zack Kassian and what Jacob Lagace has done in the "Q".
J.P. Lamoureaux had three consecutive wins this week while top Sabres prospect Jhonas Enroth can do nothing more tha watch the teams success. Lamoureaux was signed in the off-season and after a slow start he has been really good as of late. He recieved some offensive help from Philip Gogulla and Nathan Gerbe to name a few.
Jacob Lagace has put up good numbers all season but he was especialy good this week. In three games Lagace had three goals and two assists and now has more goals than Luke Adam on the season. Lagace is not has highly touted as Adam but he is trying his best to turn some heads and move up the prospect rankings.

Any way to find more about Gogulla’s play? I’m assuming he’s playing on one of the top two lines by looking at his stats. His is hitting? Is he playing responsible both ways? How much TOI is he getting? Is he playing on PK or PP?
Is this the last year for Adams in the Q, and Kassian in the O? Are both penciled in for Portland next year, or do either have junior eligibility left? Together, I think they’d have the makings of a bruising scoring line. If these guys pan out, you have to give Regier some credit for admitting an organizational mistake in going small and getting these guys in the pipeline.
I think I’m somewhat amazed at the depth in defensemen in this organization. Aside from Myers, it’s not exactly top end talent. But it still has loads of potential. At some point, they’re going to have to move a couple of these guys. Is it fair to say they might actually have too much depth here?
Loving these articles Dave
Is it just me or does anyone else like Enroth better as the back-up over Lalime?
Not Sure
They seem to be on similar levels talent-wise at this point, and while Enroth definitely has more upside, he seemed to have less control of his body than Lalime in the game he played. He was flying and flopping all over the crease, and that lack of control concerns me. I guess I’d rather stick with Lalime simply because he’s been there, as disappointing as that sounds.
Lalime is a great character guy to have on your bench. Since the backup goalie spends most games on the bench, that’s a great quality to have – the team really likes him. Enroth needs experience as a starter, most importantly, because he could likely become the future starter for the Sabres. Thrusting him into a backup role too early will stunt his development in terms of full-season endurance. Lalime is near the end of his career and is better suited as a backup.
Lalime is at the end of his career and shouldnt be a backup on our team. Any other team that wants him as a backup is fine. They can have the nice guy who people like but doesnt win. Give me the A-Hole, that when called upon to give Miller a break, can actually win.
"I don't know how to explain it but we seem to find eachother on the ice and make things happen... Yeah. Pass, shoot, score... Yeah. Pass.. Shoot.. And score."
i dont think its fair to blame Lalime. You can’t expect your backup goalie to win games for you when your team’s defensive zone play is as awful as the Sabres’ has been in most games. Miller spoils everyone into thinking our team is better than it actually is. I think it would be impossible to find a significantly better backup goalie on the same budget. Lalime is adequate, the team play is not.
