Game Notes
- The Sabres begin this game with a three game winning streak that included wins against the Calgary Flames and the Philadelphia Flyers.
- The Sabres are third in the league with a 1.35 5-on-5 differential, ironically they are behind the Philadelphia Flyers (1.42) and Calgary Flames (1.37) the two teams they have beaten most recently.
- Thomas Vanek is on a three game point streak with a goal and two assists in his last three games.
- Cory Stillman has two goals and an assist in his last two games.
- The Sabres beat the Florida Panthers 5-2 on October 21. Five different Sabres scored goals in the game.
- Drew Stafford will return to the lineup tonight. Toni Lydman is healthy enough to return but might be a healthy scratch because of the good defensive play of the team.

SPG Game
I quickly put up a post before the first game that explained the SPG Game. Unfortunately I did not do a very good job of explaining it. I will try to do a better job of explaining the game and the objective in this post. As always , if there are any questions send me an e-mail or ask in the comments.
What is the SPG Game?
"SPG" is an acronym for "Shot", "Penalty" and "Goal". The object of the game is to predict which Buffalo Sabres player will have the first shot, penalty and goal for each period.
How Does it Work?
You receive one point for every correct prediction you make. This gives you a potential for nine points in a regulation game, 12 points in an overtime game and 14 points in a shootout.
How Do I Sign Up?
The SPG Game is free to play with a special thanks to Gary Perez for building the platform that drives these statistics. You can sign up by visiting this page and creating account. After creating account you will have to visit the game page to make your selections.
Prizes?
There will be prizes available for the winner of each month as well as a grand prize winner at the conclusion of the regular season. The winner of the grand prize at the end of the season will win a Buffalo Sabres jersey. We will start out small by giving away a Buffalo Sabres poster to the winner of the October SPG Game.
Congrats to zaniac75 on winning the October prize of a Buffalo Sabres poster. I will be sending that out shortly.

Pretty dead around here.
Good guys, 3-1. Sabres get their second empty-netter of the year after going 472 years without one.

Wednesday night against Florida isn’t going to fill the seats.
Is tonight a “value” game though? That might stick a few extra butts in the seats, but not expecting a sellout.
Yeah, thats the thing, most of the value games sell out. Usually they are a hard ticket to find.

I went to MSG HD and it told me to “tune to channel 1028 to watch the game in HD.” I did, the channel was labeled “SABRE.” Its fine, but I found it strange. This happen to anyone else? Do the Sabre’s have their own channel?

Really not a great period
PP seemed to shift the momentum a bit. They had us running around in our own zone for a significant portion of the last 10 minutes.
Teams are really forechecking our defense hard as of late. Forwards need to stop lounging around in the neutral zone and get back to carry the puck a bit. I don’t ever want to see Monty trying to leg it out again for a long time.

We are really not a very good play-from-behind team.

I'm not really sure
I had press credentials to the draft through the NHL. When I came back I contacted them and tried to thank them for their help and see what I could do to build a relationship. I never heard back so I contacted them again and I got an e-mail that said they don’t work with independent sites and I should not contact them again. They said if they changed their mind they would contact me.
I could see if I was asking for game credentials but I wasn’t. I was hoping to be put on a mailing list or possibly have an opportunity to interview someone in the organization and they were pretty blunt when they declined.

I was wondering the same thing. One of the only things I don’t like about Lindy is his propensity to tinker with lines the instant things aren’t going well.
I don’t mind it – when it works. The thing I don’t like about it is that it throws the rolling four lines thing right out the window.
That is wy we are better with the lead
We all say the team doesn’t have it in them to come back but anytime we are losing, Ruff changes all the lines. What about chemistry with your linemates? I always say if the new lines are better than you should probably have started the game with them.
