Morning Skate: Dipenta Suspended For Ugly Slash
I am happy the Sabres decided to add some toughness to the big squad and the Portland Pirates but there is no place for an ugly slash like this. It was tough to see what caused the reaction from Dipenta but his reaction was uncalled for.
Sabres Edge: DiPenta gets one-game ban in Portland
This is a ridiculous slash by Dipenta. He deserved much more than a one game suspension for that slash.
Sabres have to make move when Mair returns : Sports : The Buffalo News
The Sabres are going to be faced with a big decision by this weekend. I think the most logical answer is to place either Matt Ellis or Nathan Paetsch on waivers. Both players are serviceable but do not fit in to the teams future.
Bruins sign Milan Lucic to 3 year extension - Stanley Cup of Chowder
Bruins re-sign fan favorite Milan Lucic. This means the Sabres will see him at least 18 times over the next three years. I guess it would 24 times including this year.
SB Nation's NHL Power Rankings, Week 1: Capitals Claim Top Spot - SB Nation
The SB Nation Power Rankings are up and there are plenty of surprises. The Sabres obviously turned some heads, moving up two spots to 7th in the Eastern Conference.
D-Men Del Zotto and Gilroy lift NYR over Devils - NHL - Yahoo! Sports
The Rangers beat the Devils but not before John Tortorella went ballistic. We all know how angry Tortorella can get...wasn't he the one that went in the crowd after a fan when he was an assistant for Muckler?

Dipenta
He slashed the guy in the shins! It’s not like he Chris Simon’d the guy. Big deal. Should be no suspension in my mind. If he wanted to hurt him he would have gone higher with it.

How many people vote
to determine the weekly SB Nation Power Rankings?
there were 14 people that voted in the Eastern Conference rankings and 21 voted for the top ten

thanks for replying
The only problem I have with polls is that too many voters (not necessarily you) go strictly on W-L records, which means that some team who is piling up a good record against lousy teams gets overrated. At least over a long schedule (as opposed to football), the good NHL teams will earn their ranking. Who’s your “sleeper” team?
sorry

Dipenta
I think Dipenta only got a game because he actually connected with Cowan and not the guy that bowled him over in the 1st place
