Favorite Sabres moment/experience of all time?
Post your absolute favorite Sabres moments/experiences ever.
It can be anything!
I'd have to say watching those 2 amazing Briere/Drury years, all the times we came back at the complete end of the games. Our comback shootout win reminded me just of that, which gives me hope that this will be an exciting year.
That, and the day I went to what was left of the Aud to grab myself a piece of wall.
I never actually went to a game at the Aud, so it was cool getting a part of history. I'm only 20 and didn't go when i was young. :[

Couple things stick out
1. geoff Sandersons goal in game one of the 99 cup finals. He shot on every breakaway that year and totally undressed belfour with that fake slapper
2. Dave Hannan’s goal in the devils series. Still can’t believe Hasek had 70 saves
3. Molginy’s 76 goals. That was a fun year.
4. Didnt even know Hull’s skate was in the crease until next day. Had to turn the tv off immediately
5. Drury scores with 7 secs left in game one of ottawa series. Never hugged another man like that before in my life!
6. And how can you forget Campbell crushing Umberger? I think i watched that about 100,000 times

Good Memories
What great times.
I went to the rally the Sabres has downtown a few days after No Goal.
The last thing Lindy Ruff said before he walked off stage was “NO GOAL!” and the whole crowd roared.
I was thinking of Drury’s goal when i posted this!
..And a Campbell with Myers line anyone??

Drury goal
Were you talking about Drury’s game-tying goal with 7 seconds left in Game 5 of the Rangers series (E. Conf. Semis) of 2007?

No but thats a good one also
Sorry, Drury got the game winner in ot off Meszaros when he lost the puck in his skates. Great game though Roy scores with about 2 mins to go, Smolinski scores 30 seconds later and Connolly scores with like 10 seconds left. Then drury scores 18 seconds into ot awesome!

Game 6 ECF v. Carolina
After Briere netted the OT goal to win it and force a game 7…walking out of the arena to the chaos that was is my happiest Sabres memory
My worst would be NO goal, another game that i had the good fortune of attending…although i was only 12 at the time, i remember staying up late into the night with my friends cursing brett hull and his shennanigans

Ditto!
I was gonna say that one and I too was at that game! What a night!

Plethora of Playoff Perfection
Who can pick just 1?
Sabres-Pens – Stu Barnes finds the loose puck between the tops of the faceoff circles… Gary Thorne “Barnes…. SCOOOOOOOOORES!!!!!!!!! Buffalo 3, Pittsburgh 2”
Chris Drury vs Rangers… scoring through Vanek’s legs with 7 seconds to go. Nuff said.
Hasek’s diving blocker save.
Derek Plante anyone?
Campbell running over Umberger “like a Greyhound Bus”

gary thorne...
best voice in hockey. Sorry RJ I love you man but Gary Thorne announcing NHL games was the BEST!
My best memory was definately game 3 OT winner by J.P. against Ottawa. The scene leaving the arena was awesome. I will never forget that.
Drurys winner in game 1 of that series was great too. I can just remember being on the phone with my dad and not being able to say anything because well… I was speechless haha.

also anytime Hasek turned his spine into a slinky and made amazing save, after amazing save. In his prime he was fun to watch. Im happy I got to see that man play and that he had his best years with us.

There are so many
How could I possibly list them all.
Mayday…Mayday…Mayday
Derek Plante – games even against Ottawa
Beating the Leafs in Conference Finals
Jason Wooley in game one against Dallas
Curtis Brown in overtime against the Flyers
Jason Pominville shorthanded against the Senators in overtime
Drury with the miracle goal in the final seconds against the Rangers
Max Afinogenov doing snow angels at center ice
The entire season when Mogilny scored 76 and LaFontaine had a 150 something points
There are so many more that I can’t even list them.

I would have to say the May Day goal. I was in college and for some reason I was able to see overtime on ESPN.
My 2nd most memorable was the 99’ Cup Run, 4th game sweep of Ottawa. probably because I was at that game, it was on a tues., I played golf all day Friday and I got married that saturday.
My third was Pominville’s OT goal against Ottawa that clinched that series. It was great because the crowd went silent and there was an emergency bell ringing throughout the arena that you could hear after the game.

Yeah im not sure whats better to hear. Your home town fans going nuts after an OT winner or the away fans completely silent after. Both are pretty good tho ;-)

Game 5, 2006 Eastern Semis vs. Ottawa
I was out on the town in Toronto, having dinner with a group of friends from Buffalo. When Pommer netted the short-handed OT goal, then ten of us were going nuts and everyone else in the place was looking at us cross-eyed (I’m not sure Leafs fans knew there was still hockey going on, as they missed the playoffs that year).

HAHAH
That’s hilarious!
That would be an amazing experience!
How did you find out about the goal?

I remember briere's tip in goal at the very end of a game
even though we lost…i thought there was no way we’d score after we’d already stole one with a drury goal earlier in the playoffs

"NOW DO YOU BELIEVE? NOW DO YOU BELIEVE? THESE GUYS ARE GOOD, SCARY GOOD!!"
Pominville in overtime game 5 against Ottawa in ’06. Shorthanded. Rookie 1 on 1 against veteran Alfredsson and he takes him wide and blows past Emery for the winner.
My favorite goal and Jeanneret call of all time!

May Day! May Day!
I was wondering when someone was going to bring that up. That was right at the top of my list of favourite moments. Dave Hannan’s 4th OT winner over New Jersey was also a standout. Matt Barnaby’s playoff hat trick on Mother’s Day of the Stanley Cup finals team was awesome. I’m going way back now, but my very first memory of being a Sabres fan was 30 years ago now and listening to the Sabres wallop the Leafs 14-4 on the radio. I was only 5 but my dad (also a Sabres fan) let me listen to the whole game.

Favorite Sabres Experience
Watching the French Connection in the old Aud. Doing it in the Orange seats for $8.00 a seat. Their Finals series against the Flyers.

I don’t have one specific favorite memory. Just remembering listening to game calls in the 70s by Ted Darling and Rick Jeanneret with my brother, both of us hiding our matching Scooby-Doo transistor radios under our pillows at night so we could hear the games.
Also, lots of memories of Gil Perreault. I seem to specifically remembering him breaking his ribs sliding into the net before they had the nets that came off the posts easily.
Barrasso winning the Vezina trophy and the Calder trophy in his rookie year (1984).
