Sabres Comeback Complete, Myers Nets Winner

The Sabes went into Tampa wanting to take two points.  When all was said and done, they did just that.  It might not have happened the way it was designed but Drew Stafford scored in the final minute and Tyler Myers scored the winner in a shootout.

The Sabres outshot the Lightning 32-26, including 11-6 in the third period when they were trying to come back from a one-goal deficit.  Mike Grier scored his third goal of the season in the second period to tie the game 1-1 and Drew Staffford tied the game for a second time with 17 seconds remaining and Ryan Miller on the bench in avor of an extra attacker.

I'll have a much more in depth recap of the game tomorrow but this is your opportunity to sound off on the win Saturday night.

Awesome!

Backbreaking loss for the Lightning. Myers is a filth

We'll take it

They have to keep the kid. Kennedy too. Why ruin a good thing. It’s been a couple of years since we were this high in the standings. They are both going to have good nights and bad ones. They both deserve to be here. Hopefully Darcy does whatever he has to to keep them here. Their enthusiasm is rubbing off on the veterans and that is a good thing.

I missed most of this game. I might go back and watch it today, but that’s tough to do on NFL sundays. So, maybe I’ll ask a few questions instead, and you guys can save me some time…

Did Kennedy try and pick a fight with Vinny?

I heard Paetsch was horrible in his season debut. Yes/No?

Has Lindy publicly addressed the fact that Myers is not going back to junior hockey?

Why was Roy wearing an “A”? Are they switching those up every game?

Has Hank redeemed himself a little as of late? More important, does he show signs he’ll play like this the rest of the season?

Again – who comes out when Sekera’s back?

How did Butler get almost 30 minutes of ice? Is he anything special without Rivet?

Was Vanek’s penalty lazy?

I didn't see it either

I plan on watching today as well. I probably won’t get a chance until the Bills game ends but after that I might get it in. I will post a full recap and hopefully I will answer your questions.

Let me answer what I know.

Paetsch was not good. But after he was burned resulting in a Tampa 2 on 1, he got back and broke up the play. Then he hustled into a Buffalo rush and drew a penalty (he may have scored if the penalty wasn’t taken). He can be effective as an extra energy forward, but we already have a ton of those.

Sabres have alternate A’s between home and road. Roy is one of the road A’s.

Sekera stays on the bench, IMO.

Butler got 30 minutes because the talent Tampa has can take advantage of players like Tallinder and Myers. It won’t be the case normally.

Vanek’s penalty was not lazy, as a matter of fact, it was ticky tacky and Tampa should have gotten a penalty as well. Vanek grabbed Foster’s stick, but then Foster grabbed Vanek’s stick too as he pulled away.
