Morning Skate: Vanek Near Return

We still have another day before the Sabres take the ice again but there is still plenty to talk about. It looks like Thomas Vanek might be able to play on Wednesday against the Florida Panthers and his return his welcome news for the Sabres and their fans. Vanek will be a welcome addition in the Sabres lineup after they managed only two goals against te Thrashers on Saturday night.

This is a good news/bad news scenario for the Sabres. I never thought I would say this but...I would rather have C-Mac in the lineup than Vanek. Hopefully they will both be ready for Wednesday in Florida.

It’s good to see Vanek getting healthy so quick. Hopefully there is a personal motivation on his part to get back quick, as it would go a long way in getting rid of any gun shy attitude. Beyond that, the Sabres can really build on their recent performance and separate themselves from the rest of the division given its lousy state (for the most part).

Good luck to you guys, if your lines stay healthy, this is one hell of a team.
