Unfortunately I will not be in the game thread tonight. I will be watching the game on DVR tonight and I will have a recap after I watch. Zach will have a post game thread immediately following the conclusion so you have a place to talk about the game.
SPG Game
I quickly put up a post before the first game that explained the SPG Game. Unfortunately I did not do a very good job of explaining it. I will try to do a better job of explaining the game and the objective in this post. As always , if there are any questions send me an e-mail or ask in the comments.
What is the SPG Game?
"SPG" is an acronym for "Shot", "Penalty" and "Goal". The object of the game is to predict which Buffalo Sabres player will have the first shot, penalty and goal for each period.
How Does it Work?
You receive one point for every correct prediction you make. This gives you a potential for nine points in a regulation game, 12 points in an overtime game and 14 points in a shootout.
How Do I Sign Up?
The SPG Game is free to play with a special thanks to Gary Perez for building the platform that drives these statistics. You can sign up by visiting this page and creating account. After creating account you will have to visit the game page to make your selections.
Prizes?
There will be prizes available for the winner of each month as well as a grand prize winner at the conclusion of the regular season. The winner of the grand prize at the end of the season will win a Buffalo Sabres jersey. We will start out small by giving away a Buffalo Sabres poster to the winner of the October SPG Game.
Mobile Site

Something is telling me that this isn’t going to be a low scoring game

I think I’m happy I saw a goal in the first, that would be the first time this season right?

Is Myers having a ‘back to earth’ game or looking good? looked a few times like he screwd up

Good first period
Buffalo pretty much dominated until Grier took a dumb cross-checking penalty, and then Detroit got the momentum back. Kaleta and Kronwall both had big hits on each other. I’m Myers and Kennedy are fun to watch and “Doc” gave Myers some nice props.
listening on the radio.. Neale says he thinks its in but couldnt see it so the call on the ice would stay. is that what it looks like?

What happened to Vanek on his goal. heard he went down?
"Well, I’m always hungry and it’s time to eat" - Lynch
This is what happens when you put shots on goal
They eventually go in.
I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but…this team looks really, really good.
You know whats great to hear on the radio is a lot of “buffalo keeps it in” “buffalo keeps it alive” that must mean we’re winning a lot of battles for the puck
"Well, I’m always hungry and it’s time to eat" - Lynch
Even on this last PP, they’re not letting up with a 5-1 lead. Still flying around, diving for pucks, winning the puck battles.
Thankfully, it didn’t cost us either.

If the Chicago game taught us anything last night, the Sabres need to finish this third period and keep Detroit out of it.

wow...
Looks like I missed out… I had to go to WalMart for the 2nd period, and it looks like it must have been a lot of fun.
Let’s finish it out. A win here is worth just as much as a win in February.
At least it’s an upper body injury and not a leg…
They DID show him grabbing his left arm on the bench on the VS replay.
For now, the Sabres are showing that they can score without him.

I can’t believe I missed the first two periods of this game, but wow!

Hopefully this success doesn’t cause them to play “fast and loose” in the future.

I like that they didn’t let that goal turn into an all out onslaught.

They're playing a complete brand of hockey this time around
It’s a lot of fun to watch the forechecking skills this team has.
